Tonight was Thing1's favorite comfort food - Tater Tot Casserole.

Tomorrow I'm making butternut squash soup since it's supposed to be snowing again. :cds:

And how do you make this mysterious Tater Tot casserole? Anything with tots has to be decent.

Tomorrow we are going to forage the woods out back for vittles, pioneer style.

Pete, you don't have to do that. I will go get some steaks and you can grill them on the deck for us. :huggy: I'll do stuffed taters and caesar salad inside. Oh, the deck isn't covered where the grill is, so please dress warm.

Tater Tot Casserole

2 lbs. extra lean ground beef
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 pkg. (2lb) Frozen tater tots

Pat ground beef in bottom of greased 13x9x2 in. pan. Spread soup over meat and cover with grated cheese. Top with tater tots. Bake at 350° covered (with aluminum foil) 45 minutes and uncovered 15 minutes.

Easy peasy!

Once I got past the idea of spreading raw burger in a dish like a graham cracker crust it sounds good. Might have to give it a try. Thanks :yay:

Sounds good! I have a parka. It smells like sweat and diesel exhaust right now but I will hang it outside to get fresh. :yay:

I had the same problem!

It cooks up pretty well. Then the cheese melts & mixes with the soup - and makes a sauce. Yum. We had brussel sprouts with it to balance it out.

One thing, though - make sure the tater tots get well browned. Even a little crispy. Otherwise, it's kind of soggy. (ew)

That was one of my kids' favorite meals :yay:

:yay: Thing1 always had cooking activities in his elementary school class in FL since it's a very good way to incorporate all kinds of hands on learning, math skills, social skills, etc.

He brought that recipe home THE DAY they made it and declared I would have to make it at home because he loved it. I thought it sounded disgusting, but his teacher assured me it wasn't. So I gave it a try and we like it in the winter!

I will lend you a coat and wash yours while you are bbq-ing. I must confess that maroon vehicle lady has not moved her car in a few days, so you may want to park IN THE DRIVEWAY. I'm just saying.
