I got one as a gift about 7 years ago, it's actually made out of terracotta and when you cook a roast in it, the roast just melts in your mouth and has the best flavor. I love that thing. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

The product was such a tremendous success that the supplier was having difficulty keeping up with the demand. To temporarily combat this supply issue, the Corporate office decided to make the Deep Covered Baker available only to hostesses. But becomming a hostess isn't really that difficult.....obviously, you can host a party in your home, or easier yet, you can host a catalog party. Regardless of the type of party, a party is defined as having total sales over $150, which is pretty easy to do if you simply run a catalog through your office, for instance, and gather up a few orders. Voila! You have a party, and are now eligible to get the DCB as a hostess item, among other hostess benefits.

If someone is interested in having a party, I would be interested in ordering one of these. I have had the pizza stone for 10 years and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
Oh and the garlic press is awesome, too.

I've got one in my cupboards that was used twice and it's cracked all around the bottom. The hostess is no longer in the area and I've got no idea who the PC saleswoman was, or I'd try to figure out how to get it exchanged. It was nice - while it lasted :-/
