In a perfect world, you shouldn't owe or get a refund. Why should the Federal Government keep your money (in your case, thousands) w/out paying you interest on it?Railroad said:We've gotten a refund every year from both the state and the feds, and it's rarely less than 4 digits to the left of the decimal point (well, 3 for the state and 4 for the fed).
I look at it as insurance - taxes are unpredictable to the average lunkhead like me; this way I know I won't have to take out a loan to pay my taxes.Chasey_Lane said:In a perfect world, you shouldn't owe or get a refund. If you're getting over a K$ on your refund, you're haveing WAY to much witheld. It's not a savings account, it's you giving the govt. an intrest free loan. I think they get enough of my money without me having to loan them more.Railroad said:We've gotten a refund every year from both the state and the feds, and it's rarely less than 4 digits to the left of the decimal point (well, 3 for the state and 4 for the fed). Even this year, when I was out of work for 6 months and the money I was making, I didn't deduct any for taxes - we still have a 4-digit refund. Deposited the state refund yesterday.
