I have a 4X4, but to be honest, in all the snow that we have had over the last few years, I only found it usefull for going in one storm. Every other time the front wheel drive or my two wheel drive truck with the aggressive tires on the back suffice just fine.
Lately it just hasn't been very bad. I remember a couple years though, that no one was getting out of this neighborhood without it. Not to mention back in, which is a small hill. The plows come let us out once the main roads are clear.

If I'm going to watch the OSU v. Wisconsin hoops game, I need to get on the road (Rte. 4) pretty soon. I'd stay down here if I was certain the Feds would be closed tomorrow. This in-between stuff is a pain.

I don't know why everyone thinks we 4X4 owners think like that.

Not all, but more than a few. There are alot of people that seem to think that just cuz its 4wd, they are immune to street conditions. I've had 2 4wd vehicles and yes they are a savior on snowy roads, but you still have to be careful. Didn't mean for my statement to blanket all 4wd owners.

No Let Up

Radar says another 2 hours at least.-then possible rain coming in:
That snow on the branches will act like a sponge! Better get some wood heat going before the power goes!

1:04 pm. 2 inches by the Nuke Plant...
My drive back from church: Rt 4 unplowed and ugly.--everybody is doing 30 mph or less.

Just went from Wildewood to Giant to get some firewood and 235 was just fine. Giant was pretty busy but they had all but two lanes open. The roads in Wildewood have not been plowed yet but they are still ok to drive on.

Just out of curiosity, how much did you pay for the wood? Last I checked, it was about $6.00 for a small bunch.

That's a pretty lucrative business IMHO.

3" up here by Plum Point..Back roads not plowed, but some people out driving. Saw a Pizza delivery guy drive by. Snow still coming down.
Be safe out there driving, and remember to turn INTO the skid.

and remember, drive like you have some common sense and dont get into the skid in the first place.

just came back from the store, there was one car going up a hill, everyone else did just fine going up the hill, but this guy decided that he needed more power to get up it, so he hit the gas and slid off the road.:dork:

everyone else just kept going without any sliding at all.

Golden Beach Rd. before Laurel Ridge had a nasty accident around 11AM. One car was on the roof of the other. 2 cops were there with flares. My friend called me after church and said ppl were talking in McKay's that our GB road was shut down cuz of the accident. The bypass earlier hadn't been salted, roads were very slushy even with the big A$$ snowflakes!

I'm guessing we have3-4 inches on the deck! 2 hour delay tomorrow :elaine:

Cuz the 4wd folks think they are bulletproof in the snow.
:diva: I had a blast. First I covered my license plate with snow then I set out to have fun.

If you drive along next to someone and ease over and hit a ridge of slush, it shoots it into the car next to you like a fire hose. :lmao: The trick is to get just ahead of them so the slush jet hits their windshield. :yay:

I ran a couple creeepers off the road because they were going too slow. Minivans are fun because the slush hitting them has to sound like a drum inside, kids crying, mom has the white knuckles. :yahoo:

Anti lock brakes suck but if you pump them hard enough you can get them to lock up. :yay:

Looks like we are a few hours away from another famous Southern Maryland ice storm.
Just looked up NOAA & Intellicast. Likely St Mary's & Charles will get mostly Rain (as typical) but PG & Montgomery & Anne Arundel might see some more power problems to add to their discomfort of 10 days ago.

Anybody have the best site to find very local temps...Weathernet4 died a year ago and I can't find a good "Real time" weather reading for the Md/Dc/Va area.

i live in Charles County and it is now Sunday afternoon. it stopped snowing about an hour and a half ago. in my neighborhood there is about two inches on the ground.
