This. I want the middle of nowhere to include a convenience store within a mile. Oh, and I want a small cottage/cabin with either a cellar or basement.

Edited to include cable.

You one of those people that move to the country then try to change it to make it more like the city you moved from???

I'm a cabin-and-lake type of guy. With a writing room/library/office where I can crank out the Great American Novel.

Have some friends dealing with this now. Person moved from a densely populated area just east of NYC into a small, tight-knit wooded community. Then proceeded to cut down all the trees, contact the power authority to install street lights, called the town to cut down all the plantings people had on the road edge...

Needless to say no one is talking to her, after they openly cursed in her face and told her to go back to the city.

Good! We moved here in '94. We decided to stay because we liked it just the way it was. I know it wasn't all the fault of transplants that the area has grown so much, but I have no doubt that's a big part of it. Some people had no choice but to follow the money. For a long time I wanted to stay, but ready to find another small town now.

Biggest little city in the USA that is immediately abutted by nothing, snow but not alot, gorgeous scenery, Vagas like without being too much, cheap land, Lake Tahoe and California close but not too close, Sierra Nevada mountains, #7 on Kiplingers tax friendly states fo rretirees.

I was going to post that it's because he has his own "Magic Mike" style show lined up. But didn't post, but since you posted, I figured I may as well pile on. :jet:

You are still mad because I said you would not be able to get $1,500 for half an hour.

No. A Mom and Pop store down the road is NOT city.

I want beer, a cabin and possibly cable. Definitely a basement.

Give me a library, some candles and I'll be fine. My Dad taught me how to make beer when I was 3 years old. PITA and I would rather buy it.
