I d donate my 10% tides to church and 10% to childrens hospital and move and change my name
The church, by principle, shouldn't accept the 10% since you gambled to get it. It should be considered ill gotten gains, and the church would consider it dirty money and tell you to keep it.. IF the church stood on it's principles..

I'd take it as a 20 year annuity, figure 1,660,000 a year after taxes. That would help limit my insanity. I'd have to save up a few years to take a ride with the Ruskies up to the space station
I'd buy land in the area and some in south western VA. Build a house here and a retirement home in VA. Both would have large garages for toys and a second story for a big party room. Of course there would have to be pools and hot tubs with ceilings that retract.
Then would come the cars and bikes  Regular trips to Skip Barber's racing school and Edelweiss bike tours in Europe.

At 500 million I would split it between my Family and Tracey's.. Trust funds for all the kids.. Pay off all of the immediatte families debt(s).. invest and live off of the interest.

If I invested just 50 million of it, and lived off of 10% interest, I'd still be looking at over 400,000 a month to live on. What the hell would I do with 400K a month?

For work, I'd find a non-profit that could use my talents, and work for them with no compensation. I can't imagine life without some kind of work. Maybe the Bill Gates foundation. They do a LOT of good work.

Travel the world... and travel like I was still in my current state, not 5 star hotels.. but where the REAL people are.

I'd start an education trust fund where I could find my own scholarship recipients. People that I meet in my daily life that need help, smart people that got stuck in the daily grind of life. It would be more than just a scholarship, but a means to support them and their family while they got an education. Hire family members to manage it, and to help find and recruit needy people to help. They may have to travel the world also, looking for deserving smart people to help out.

I can't save all the starfish, but I just made a differnce for that one.

Yeah but when you take into account your life expenctency, you are giving quite a bit back to the kitty. :ohwell: If you take the lump sum, you'd be able to leave the bulk of it to your kids...

See, the problem with all that money is that you're still limited by your environment. Like, say you wanted a chauffeur on call 24/7 to take you around - where are you going to find someone to do that?

I was thinking, maybe I'd have some work done on my house - put on an addition, enlarge the bathrooms. Then I remembered that I'm dreading the guys coming in to install my Pergo floors in ONE room - what kind of stress would it be to have them knocking out walls? :faint:

I'll stick with buying a pair of shorts.
I like to drive to much to ever want a chauffeur..

What church are you speaking of? Churches are always sponsoring Bingo.
And they accept A LOT of money from that!!!

Bingo = gambling.

I was being serious (this time), Aps... Look at how much of the 500 mil you wouldn't be getting and would be letting the state(s) keep that should have rightfully been yours.

When you take the lump sum, they imediatly cut your award in half, You'd break even at the 10 year mark.

I would pay off all of our debts, give an amount to our two grown daughter and the house then move. I would also donate some to the Cancer foundation in honor of my Mother.
