I just heard that Ihop wanted to build in Charlotte Hall, but was shot-down big time! Does anyone know anything about this? We could have used one! It would have done a great business here!

That's why I'm moving out of CH/Mechanicsville as soon as I can. No place to eat or shop that isn't 25 miles away. Sounds good when you move in but 50 mile round trips get old really fast. Add to it low/lowering property values, no will to change anything, and ZERO infrastructure investment it's a depressing stagnation. The long term outlooks for the area isn't very bright in my estimation.

Says the guy with the Nazi quote on his tag? From German Sieg ‎(“victory”) + Heil ‎(“hail”), a common chant at political rallies in Nazi Germany, meaning roughly "Hail Victory!" You're about as likely as the Nazis were to be victorious. To Barney style that for you, I mean not victorious at all...a total fail!

It's OK when you're young, but aging is an issue. 50 mile round trips to a hospital are tough on older people. To a lesser extent, access to good grocery stores and dining options, other than fast food, begin to matter more. It's easy to overlook these things when you're young and commuting into the city, because you can always stop along the way. The fact is CH/Mechanicsville has been good for more than 20 years, but it's a tough place grow old in. Eventually, the area will have better restaurants, health care, and grocery stores. There is no doubt. It's a matter of time. I say this with such confidence because of America's aging demographics.

I agree 100% with you! Only the rich here in CH have the power to shoot down growth here...Heard the Hill Family keep shooting down growth-more businesses...

I heard through the grapevine that there is "someone" who is planning or fighting for an over-pass, or by-pass, for CH., and that "someone" wants to build "low income housing". If these plans go through, I think CH will not improve at all, but will become "Dead"!

All righty then......Why don't YOU go to the bank and take out a loan and buy a IHOP franchise?????

You would think the NIMBY folks would have learned their lesson from Hughesville. They definitely shot themselves in the foot.
