That's why I'm moving out of CH/Mechanicsville as soon as I can. No place to eat or shop that isn't 25 miles away. Sounds good when you move in but 50 mile round trips get old really fast. Add to it low/lowering property values, no will to change anything, and ZERO infrastructure investment it's a depressing stagnation. The long term outlooks for the area isn't very bright in my estimation.

someone people don't want to live in the suburbs
try Waldorf or California for an upgrade
I do wish they would clean up the speed limits however
I agree 100% with you! Only the rich here in CH have the power to shoot down growth here...Heard the Hill Family keep shooting down growth-more businesses...That's why I'm moving out of CH/Mechanicsville as soon as I can. I heard through the grapevine that there is "someone" who is planning or fighting for an over-pass, or by-pass, for CH., and that "someone" wants to build "low income housing". If these plans go through, I think CH will not improve at all, but will become "Dead"!It's OK when you're young, but aging is an issue. 50 mile round trips to a hospital are tough on older people. To a lesser extent, access to good grocery stores and dining options, other than fast food, begin to matter more. It's easy to overlook these things when you're young and commuting into the city, because you can always stop along the way. The fact is CH/Mechanicsville has been good for more than 20 years, but it's a tough place grow old in. Eventually, the area will have better restaurants, health care, and grocery stores. There is no doubt. It's a matter of time. I say this with such confidence because of America's aging demographics.
