:killingme It's nice to have hope. Youthful wishing keeps one young at heart (even if it shows some naiveté).

Like Otter said, it’s never-ending, though I would say that there are those brief sparkles of joy amongst the normal turmoil that somehow makes it all right.

Don’t fret, just do what you have got to do and don’t worry about her not being your best buddy for a while. This is as much for your sanity and protection as it is for her security (and apparently others).

Oh my, I can see it now, maybe this could grow to the point where Vrai becomes BuddyLee's Momma-in-Law.

BuddyLee, would you be willing to relocate to Frederick and join the Gude household?

Vrai... glad she wasn't hurt...

Buddy Lee... what happened to that girl you were seeing?

I don't know if I'd want Vrai as my mother-in-law. I don't think I could live up to her standards.

I'm trying to think what you've ever done to me that I would foist my demon spawn off on you.

Sleuth, if you think my standards would be impossible for some poor guy to meet, let me introduce you to my daughter. As I said before, she thinks everyone is an idiot - including any boys that get brave enough to ask her out.

This afternoon she had ANOTHER car accident!!!!! This makes three in the last two months.

:yikes: since she apparently didn't get hurt, she's probably okay to work ... hand her the bill for the damages and cut out all extra-curricular activities that she enjoys until the damages are paid off.

I think the problem with kids today :)lol: love when peeps say that, don't ya?) is they don't have first-hand experience with consequences because parents today tend to coddle them when they get in trouble and make the "problem" just go away for them (not saying you are doing this). While nixing her driving priviledges is a good idea, I really (based on what you are saying) don't think it's enough ... if she were me, it probably wouldn't be a big deal to me because I'm not having to really pay any price by just not driving. Now, cut off my social life, shopping trips, allowance, contact with the outside world, and force me to get a job to pay for the damages caused by my own stupidity, and I would more likely rethink my actions. :ohwell:

Good luck! I feel for ya! :huggy:

She has a $1000 debt she's paying off from her last little mishap. We'll just tack this one on :ohwell: We took her phone away and she's grounded for awhile. The phone and driving privileges are gone forever.

I couldn't agree with you more on this.

I was going to suggest having Larry Paint the hood and rear bumper of her car dayglo orange and in 5 inch letters paint:

I AM A RECKLESS IDIOT, STEER CLEAR !!

and do not fix the damage, let her drive it like that.

 That is so something my dad would have suggested.

I will admit, it just may work.

My parents wouldn't buy me a car. I had to buy my own and the deal was they would pay for the insurance.

However, if I lost the good student discount or got into an accident that made it go up, my parents said they'd make me pay it.

Worked out pretty well. The fact that I had to work for my car I think made me had a greater appreciation for it. Hence, I acted less like an idiot than normal teenagers.

Still got a lot of speeding tickets, but I didn't do anything stupid.

The ball is in her court...

...she and I had a 20 minute conversation that went in circles enough times for her to be faced with the reality that she is the problem and that she is in denial about her driving skills and the attention she thinks she is paying.

It was MY fault. It was her moms fault. It was the other guys fault. It was JUST and accident. It's her fathers fault. Her brothers. The cat. The wall. I do it. Everyone does it.

I just stopped her and asked if law school might not be more appropriate than theatre arts.

So, anyway, one kid is crusing the bannister downstairs eating this all up and Crash is stuck.

She is not to approach me about driving again until she admits that she has two problems; she can't drive worth a crap, and admits that she is powerless to drive safely until she fixes her attitude.

This will be interesting.
