As long as we fail to work towards making these countries more attractive to live in, we can build all the fences we want, we can deport every one of them, and they will still find a way in. They are that desperate to escape their plight that they will find a way in.

Because governments have failed to fix the underlying problem, and because we don’t feel we owe THE PEOPLE stable, prosperous nations to exist in, I think we at least owe it to them to allow them to stay.

It's not the job of the US to change other countries. The people living there have to initiate the change.

I met an illegal from El Salvador that told me that in his village where he is from there are no males ages 20 - 25 living there any more. They all came to the US. Those are exactly the people that have historically led the way for change.

Through normal diplomatic means, sure it is. If what they are doing impacts this country negatively, it’s in our best interest to encourage governments and the people to establish stable and humane governments that empower the people.

Once the people are stripped of their rights and ability to control their own country, and they fear their government to rise up against it, to the degree they are willing to leave their own country, isn’t it in our best interest – since they are coming here – to do something about that? If circumstances remain the same and send 12 million people back to their own countries, I think the odds are pretty good they will just end up right back here.

Not feeling charitable today. There was no Open season/Firing squad choice, and other just doesn't cut it.

Seriously, as with anything else that is so screwed up in this country, just ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS.

I voted "other" because until we stop the flow it makes no sense to do anything else or it just stays the endless cycle we currently have.

There are an estimated 12 million illegals in the US...exactly how do you suggest we "deport all illegals".

How do you propose to pay for the personal to round them all up and ship them out?

Your "solution" is irrational and illogical. You are going to fit right in with this crowd!

Well, you have shot down our solution, What's YOUR Solution?

Here's how we secure the border.

Build a wall along the entire southern border, then 100 yards inside the boarder, build a second wall, then a hundred yards inside that wall, station the national guard and declare that hundred yard area a free fire zone. We can rotate the guard units out and make it part of their two week active duty period. If you cross the first wall, we will give you the benefit of the doubt, if you cross the second wall, it shows clear intent of entering this country and that you have total disregard of our laws and therefore are a threat to this country and we reserve the right to defend this country from all threats.

We can also mine that free fire zone, station drones above it and make it a bomb range for aircrew training missions.

I don't think we will have to worry about terrorist or anyone else entering the country illegally from mexico, and it will cut down on the drug trafficking also.

1. End the hand outs. Want some education? Pay for it. Want some medical treatment? Pay for it. Here illegally? Here is the fine.

2. End drug prohibition.

We have an immigration problem because of the financial inducements to come here. There's nothing wrong, and, frankly, everything right about people wanting to come here to make a better life. That said, free health care and education shouldn't be available to anyone let alone illegal immigrants. Pay for it.

We have a violence and corruption problem because drug prohibition makes it worth it.

No walls. No Terminators on the border. Just common sense public policy.

Then, after lunch, we'll eliminate withholding taxes and fix campaign finance rules. After we end Too Big To Fail.

And what, may I ask, is your solution? If an illegal wants to become a US citizen, there are rules and policies in place to do so. Follow them, if not, you will be deported. If you apply for socal services/benefits, you must show legal documentation that you are an american citizen. If you want a drivers license, same thing. What about the immigrants who have struggled and studied and taken the steps to become US citizens, I would be curious to know how they feel about immigration reform. By the way Tommyjo, I think you meant "personnel" not "personal" Just saying.
