As long as we fail to work towards making these countries more attractive to live in, we can build all the fences we want, we can deport every one of them, and they will still find a way in. They are that desperate to escape their plight that they will find a way in.
Because governments have failed to fix the underlying problem, and because we don’t feel we owe THE PEOPLE stable, prosperous nations to exist in, I think we at least owe it to them to allow them to stay.
It's not the job of the US to change other countries. The people living there have to initiate the change.
I met an illegal from El Salvador that told me that in his village where he is from there are no males ages 20 - 25 living there any more. They all came to the US. Those are exactly the people that have historically led the way for change.
