Inexpensive wedding

That's an easy one! Put disposable cameras on each table. Walmart is 7 cents per print online. Or you can ask your friends to all bring their cameras. And I agree with you, the BYOB thing...tacky.

Myself...mason jars, daisies, and lemonade.

You would be surprised how quick those photos, cameras, extra copies can add up quick. I mean I guess you could request your guests to bring their own cameras, then have then email you copies of the pictures they took and then you could pick which ones you want them to have printed and paid for. With 500.00 this couple needs a courthouse wedding, I have no idea even what a JP would cost to come to your home. Then go out to dinner with a few of their friends.

He PM'd me awhile ago during my last engagement. He would not leave the religious aspect out of the vows.

Nope. I'm happily engaged to my redneck/biker/coon hunter. The engagement that I was talking about was 2 years ago.

Yes, but it's not the same ones you're thinking of. This is a Chuck County cop that lives in St. Mary's. :lmao:
:yay:.....

Shot in the dark here. Don't know where you are located. Kings Landing Park in Huntingtown. Rental price for the hall there is reasonable. would also have to acquire a one day alchohol permit. They have a full kitchen area in the back of the hall, BYOB BYO sodas and BYO food. The couple would have to do a lot of set up and break down and cleaning. Not positive of the price but number is in the link.a lot of work from friends and family would be involved, and the price would still be very close or could be over, that would depend on the food and booze they want at the reception, but you can't beat the price for the rental, but you have to follow their rules.

The church I go to rents out their hall for $125 (bring your own food, general clean up after; they charge more if there's extensive cleanup), so there are inexpensive places for receptions. I don't know how the daily liquor license works, but truthfully, I dont think it works on a $500 budget. Get flowers at Loveville Auction - we got a ton of flowers there last September for $40 to use for rehearsal dinner, filler around the wedding site...they were lovely, and could definitely be made into bouquets, table arrangements. Finding someone nondenominational to perform the ceremony is probably going to be a big chunch. I shopped around for weeks and weeks last year to find a DJ who would just come in, announce the couple and then play music for dinner and dancing (no special lighting, no calling tables to a buffet, nothing fancy...just laid back atmosphere) and found someone local for $300, if we'd feed him and his wife. So, you may want to find a friend with a good sound system to put some stuff on an ipod and go that route.
Frankly, I'd find a nice park, reserve the pavilion, pray for good weather, make it casual attire for the guests, get married and have a cookout. Make it special with flowers, some handmade decorations, and a somewhat traditional cake.

I remember when you were trying to pull your son's wedding together last year. It seems you did an awesome job, and you got a lot of advice on the forum. So, I think kelb should listen to you. A $500 wedding these days is impossible. My only daughter is getting married in May, and we are spending too much money. A down payment on a house is the way to go, but her fiancé already has a house, so that was a no go. But, I do wish the happy couple a wonderful wedding day, and a beautiful life together. Just remember, y'all, after the big day is done, it just ends up being a piece of paper.

The forum was a huge help! Wedding cost us a little more than $10k for 55 people, not including the invitations, dress, venue, cake (which was a present). We spent our money on the things she thought were important and spent wisely where we could. They wanted a sit down dinner, and that's where we spent the bulk of the money. I spent hours pouring over Pinterest for ideas and craigslist for photographers (we found one who did a lovely job for $650, no prints, just the dvd's, which we printed later as Christmas gifts for the grandparents), transportation to the beach and reception (that's a hilarious story in itself - we had guests arguing over who got to drive the vans over the golf course). We used an amish lady on loveville road who did the bouquets and 11? centerpieces (we supplied the vases, which were loaned to us by the reception venue), and flowers for the cake for $150. I found an escort card online that we liked, bought the download and made all the escort cards myself. Biggest costs other than food: We had a very modest bar tab (wine and beer came with dinner) of $500, the officiant, the DJ, the photographer. The candy bar was not cheap, either...man, people can plow through some candy...but I bought it on sale for months ahead of time.

I learned a lot. If I could take the emotion out of doing it, I would love to do it again. If it wasn't for bridezillas (I was so fortunate to have a wonderful daughter in law to be) and their moms, I'd love to do it for a living. I had so many ideas that I would like to have tried.
