Inflation rose faster than expected in August, keeping prices painfully high

I generally don't look at prices when I food shop, I just get what I need. I looked more closely today in Giant.

Butter: $5/lb.
Canned soda 12 pack: almost $10.
Eggs: anywhere from $2.50 to over $4.

FJB.

I'm getting more things now at Aldi than I used to. Eggs: $1.79. Butter: $3.79.
Instead of canned soda, I get a 15-count case of 1 liter bottles of seltzer at BJs for under $10, and flavor it with no-sugar flavors. Sunkist orange, A&W root beer, Canada Dry ginger ale, Hawaiian Punch.....

Still haven't checked my oil tank, don't have a wrench big enough to get the cap off to stick the tank. Didn't use much last year, so should have plenty. Just nice to know going into the season.
Thanx to @PrchJrkr and his pipe wrench, we got the cap off. Not sure if it's a 500 or 550 gallon tank, I think 500. Oil measured at 29.5 inches, so somewhere around 325 gallons or 355 gallons, well more than half a tank. :yay: Won't need to buy any this season.

I use little bottles of Bourbon, Scotch and other whiskey flavors I get off Amazon.
That has helped me get the taste I like, but helps mightily to cut back alcohol consumption.

That's been a thing forever. But the reality of it hit last week when I bought some creamcicles. They were less than half the size I remember. And I remember begging my mom for a quarter so I could buy one from the Good Humor truck as he drove past the house. A quarter....

:drama: Oh the humanity.....messing with my ice cream!!
Nah, it's just the new and improved now packaged in smaller, healthier sizes. Yeah, that's it. They're just looking out for us all!

Oh hell if I had seen this before my visit Thursday I could have brought a pipe wrench with me.

No thanks necessary, I was just sizing up your fuel oil supply for when the big one drops. I may need to barter for some of your fuel oil stockpile for my Jetta, so I can bug out.

Note to self: buy locking fuel cap.
I still have connections at Ace. Don't mind that the package is opened and the spare key is missing. That's why I got such a good price for you! You never need the spare anyway. :yay:
