Just got more news. He is not yet in Texas, that was an error.

Matt is not in Texas yet. The burn unit team member have flown to Germany to care for him and bring him back to the US but know with this development everything is on hold.

Mary just got off the doctors in Germany and Matthew's neurological condition is deteriorating very quickly. There appears to be swelling in the brain and his eyes are dilated which is a bad thing. This is very serious! Please begin praying immediately that the swelling would be reduced and his neurological condition would improve. Doctors are going to reduce his medication to get a better assessment of his neurological condition and as you can imagine that might add to his discomfort. Doctor’s are hoping to bring him back to Texas tomorrow morning but with this new development that might be put on hold. Let’s pull together and seek the Lord during this critical time. God can do all things!!!

Received this in an email today:

On Sunday Matthew was on patrol with his unit in a Bradley fighting vehicle and they were struck by an improvised explosive device (IED). The explosion killed one soldier and left him with second and third degree burns over 90% of his body. Matthew is currently in Germany in critical condition. He is unconscious and on a ventilator. Matthew’s family, his mom and dad, and sisters are making plans to join up with him as quickly as possible. Depending on his progress they will either be flying to Germany or San Antonio, Texas within the next 24 hours. Donations are being accepted to help defray the cost of this trip for the Wallace family. To make a donation please make your check out to Patuxent River Assembly of God (PRAG) and list in the memo section, Wallace Family. Mail them to PRAG, P.O. Box 828, California, MD 20619.

A donation is on the way and my thoughts and prayers are with Matt and his family at this difficult time. :huggy:

Update

2:00A.M

The Wallace's were called at 1:10a.m. to travel immediately to Germany.
The doctors don't expect Matt to live through the day. They are en route and hope for the opportunity to say goodbye in person. They consider Matthew to be in the hand of the Lord just as much now as 'then', and trust whatever happens with Matt is the Lord's will.

May his last hours be without suffering and may he rest in peace. :frown:

Screw the doctors, Come on Matt hang in there

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Know how you feel.

Matt's a good guy.
He went thru a lot of crap between dropping out of school and getting his GED. He got his life straightend out and I hate to see this happen.

Here's a blog on behalf of Matt Wallace, so everyone can track the situation. http://mattwallace.pragnet.org/

This page has been linked in to PRAG's main web site (see the block on the lower right side, below the Current Events). For you tech-savvy folks, an RSS feed is also available for timely information.

Poor guy. Virtual hug for his family - they must be frantic, especially with him being overseas.

When this came out the local VFW post commander got involved to see what support they could lend to the family. This family is certainly facing a very rough time. My prayers go out to them that they can remain strong enough to handle it all.

And APS, that was very touching. I wept.

It's great to see all the support for the family in this rough time. However, in the interest of the family, I request that you not post comments that have not been verified by a family member or one of their representatives.

I urge all interested parties to use the link provided in one of the previous posts for the most up to date information from the family and please continue to pray for all of them during this unbelievably difficult time.

Went to the memorial service today. Hooked up with the Patriot Guard Riders and was part of the color guard lining the walkway when Matt and his family came into the church. I'm grateful I was able to take part in honoring the memory of a fine young man.
Matt had told his family that he chose to go to war so his sister's children wouldn't have to.

RIP Matt, you'll live forever in the hearts of your friends and family.

My daughter was there today, and will be in the procession to Arlington. She had make all down her face when she got home. We both went to the prayer service last night. It just rips your heart out.

It was strange...

I've been out of the Navy for 20 years. When the ride captain called "Tennn-hut", the first thing I did was consciously feel for the seam in my pants leg to line up my thumb and index finger.
