I hate insurance companies right now. They wouldn't put my son on my life policy because he was born 5 weeks early. wtf. The least they could do was add him to my policy and charge me an arm and a leg for it.

according to them it is. it's disturbing. they told me that all life insurance company would deny him because he was a preemie. wtf? i am looking into it. they told me to appeal it. i told them to kiss my azz and i'd be cancelling my policy to search for a more caring company, if there is such a thing.

Check with your company HR department. Find the info about the coverage and check it for the explicit policy that excludes your son. It's almost as if they are saying, we'll cover you unless you get REALLY sick, then we'll cut you off. Which kinda defeats the purpose of insurance in the first place.
