I think Jesus was "murdered" for rebelling against the status quo and the power base of the established church and it's leaders. A martyr created to justify a break away from what seemed to be a church and religion that had gone corrupt and power hungry.
And what do you consider to be the status quo and power base of the Christian faith today?
BTW, Did Jesus ever directly say he was going to be crucified specifically to erase all future sins of man? Just curious.
Jesus often talked about his death. His death represented the sacrifice God demanded from His people that WAS accomplished through animals. It’s not his crucifixion that erases our sins, it’s the belief in that sacrifice and subsequent resurrection that we are forgiven.
So, to more directly answer that question… No, Jesus never said his crucifixion would erase our sins; He said believing in Him would erase our sins.
