Is It OK For the Girl to Propose? No Way, Study Suggests | LiveScience

Despite loosening of gender roles at work and in society as a whole, men and women are remarkably traditional when it comes to marriage, new research finds.

In fact, the study of college students at a liberal-leaning university found that not a single man or woman wanted a proposal in which the woman asked the man to marry her. And while 60 percent of women said they were "very willing" or "somewhat willing" to change their surname to their husband's upon marriage, 64 percent of men said they were "very unwilling" or "somewhat unwilling" to do the same for their wives.

I hope that all parties involved have at least talked to each other and both agree they see marriage in their future.

I didn't change my name after I got married.
But I don't care if people refer to me by my husband's last name.

I'm guessing when she sez: "I'm not going anywhere so I propose that you leave.." is not what we're talking about here?

See??? I TOLD you!!

And hey girls? We don't ask men on dates, either. Not real men, anyway.

Does that mean that 36% of "men" would change their name to their wife's?

I ask again:

Who the hell neutered all these guys?????

Maybe they had goofy last names and did not want to carry it on.

Please.

You know you're really the schizz if you can get some schmuck to take your last name....and it's not even *your* name but your ex-husband's.

I am also old fashioned and think the man should propose...:huggy:

I think it would emasculate the man if the woman proposed.... But that is just me. I have been known to be wrong every now and again...:coffee:
