Is this a good idea?

Healthcare in America is broke for nearly everyone but the uber rich and high level politicians...

Military retiree's don't get great health care either. I wait months for specialized appointments that could determine crucial things such as if you have cancer...

We have to pay our sucky HMO Tricare quarterly payments. Oh, and if you forget about that payment because it only happens quarterly, they don't even remind you - they just boot you out of their prime coverage and put you in their standard plan. Guess what? Under that plan, you pay 20% of the bill. Wanna pay 20% of a heart attack bill Mikey?

My doctors have to ask sucky Tricare if they'll authorize such and such treatment before they can send me to get it...

I pay co-payments when I go off base...

Granted, I'm getting off cheaper than many Americans, but this country has serious health care issues...

Agreed! I'm on Tricare as well, don't even get me started on Delta Dental. And these are entitlements we earned for our service to the country. What baffles me is why, with Tricare and Delta such losers, do folks think some kind of government sponsered universal health care will be a good thing?

...or bottled water.

No kidding! It costs more per gallon than gas depending on the packaging. We quit buying it completely. Our new fridge has a water filter so thats what we use. It's better for the kids anyway since they get flouride for their emerging teeth. Knocked off all that damn juice buying too, kids don't need a glass of juice in their hands every waking moment. It just makes them fat and rots their teeth.

I am going to have to do more looking around. My husband and I own a business with 4 employees and we pay for their Health Insurance and they are killing us with the premiums we have to pay for family coverage. We pay for Vision and Dental for them as well but still...if we could do $690.00 a month we would be turning cartwheels!

can I work for you ........ :flowers:

:coffee:

One of my big problems with health insurance is that everyone uses it for every little sniffle. That's not what insurance should be used for. Those visits should be paid out of pocket. Insurance should be for bigger problems.

Just think...if you didn't pay for their insurance, you could give them all a hefty raise and they could decide which insurance they want/need.

Absolutely right! Go to the pediatricians office sometime, filled with kids with a cold. I know women who bring their kids into the doctor for every sniffle and little fever. How many times do you have to hear "infants tylenol" before you try it on your own before calling the doc. The only time we saw a doc as kids is if we needed stitches or bones set. Make co-pays a little more painful to the pocketbook and you'd see appointments cut in half I bet.
