Its a damn shame when kids can't go to the movies

This reminds me of the scene in Crash where Ludacris and the cop's brother are walking down the street and Ludacris is complaining about racism and how the white people are giving him the hairy eye. He notices Sandra Bullock pull closer to her husband as she sees them, and says, "See? We're just walking and she's scared of us!"
Then they proceed to rob Sandra and hubby at gunpoint.
Another good scene:
Anthony: That waitress sized us up in two seconds. We're black and black people don't tip. So she wasn't gonna waste her time. Now somebody like that? Nothing you can do to change their mind.
Peter: So, uh... how much did you leave?
Anthony: You expect me to pay for that kind of service?

First of all, no where did I say "Hey, I think I will be a racist" What I said was:
I am not a racist person but between this and what I deal with at work, it would be really easy to become one. I just pray to God that my heart does not become closed and that my mind does not become narrow due to the actions of a few.
If I wanted to be a racist, I just would be. I would not care about my heart becoming closed or mind becoming narrow.
You know what I find funny is that you come on here and you call me or whoever a racist but have yet to acknowledge the fact, that I didn't bring race into this! Any type of racism is horrible but what I am sick and tired of black people using their race as an excuse for their problems. You often hear black people in the streets saying "the white man is holding us down" NO! You are holding yourselves down. Answer me this, when have you EVER heard a white person when they are held accountable for something say "it was because of the black people holding me down?" NEVER! They may have other excuses but black people are the first ones to blame everything on an ENTIRE RACE!
Do I think you are that way? NO! But as I said in my other post. Those kids purposely told their friends "we are going to mess up these WHITE boys" simply because they thought the fact that they were white would be more enticing to the person on the other end.

You responded to the whole board, and I started with the original message and I do not see where she said "thinking any other way". She stated the facts... and other people walked out of the move, well any of us would, except for you... go bury your head in the sand until some less-than-fortunate low-life comes around and takes advantage of you while your ass is in plain view.
Go throw the race card up your ass - it might be make a better target for one of these "poor teenagers" running the streets trying to thug-out the opposite race with no respect for others that you wish to protect...

No one here said ALL black males are being avoided - it is the bad ones who unfortunately stereotype the reset of the young black population.Again, you are picking and choosing what words you would like to use, kind of like Al and Jesse.
I am glad you are doing it for yourself and not for the youth... sounds selfish. Your true colors are coming to the surface.
Most of us are as well - this is common sense they taught us in grade schools, be weary of strangers... at least there is some common ground between you and the rest of the world.

Because of this very reason i do not go to P.F to see movies. Every time i have ever gone there at night there is about 20 wannabe "gang members" trying to act hard standing outside. When I go to the movies i like to make a night of it and go to annapolis. I have never have had any problems like this there. But that happens very rarely. I just wait for everything to come out on DVD, that way if anyone is making a disturbance, i can smack them in the back of the head and tell them to shut the hell up, and don't have to worry about being jumped by some punks afterwards.

Interesting point. When my son gets upset because his friends will tease with him over something and I remind him just this. When I see him teasing them back later on, I remind him of this - as well as "Remember what you felt like XX days ago when you were upset because so and so was teasing you?".
when I had all of their attention the other day I reminded the whole group, "treat others the way you want to be treated" - and the attitude of this core group of kids has changed... now, as pre-teens they still razz each other but when they see the other is getting upset they immediately defuse themselves.
I think you are right - parenting skills and teaching your children basic, moral rights are gone. It seems like a COMPLETE generation or even two has missed teaching these little, valuable lessons.

Never judge a book by its' cover. Ted Bundy was white, handsome, well dressed, educated, well spoken, friendly and how many women did he murder that he conned into helping him in public parking lots while faking a broken leg? You just can't be too careful which is why I don't go out after dark in Lex. Park.Sounds about right!!!

I've taught in schools that were both predominantly white (Southern Maryland) or predominantly black. (in Annapolis)
Guess what? Neither group was a picnic. The sense of entitlement
shown by the white students (yes, I'm white) was breathtaking - and sickening. Even worse was the attitude of parents who backed their kids to the hilt. Could their child do something wrong? Nah, it's always someone else's fault. Could their child be deserving of a poor grade? Nah, that teacher doesn't know how to teach my child.
The OP's boys did the right thing. They left instead of making a bad situation worse. I do not blame them one bit for feeling threatened. I do question why an adult would feel it necessary to post this on a public forum and make it an issue of race. (READ CAREFULLY: I AM NOT CALLING HER A RACIST) Kids of all races can be jerks. Believe me, I know. Everytime I've been to a movie that was disrupted by teenagers, they turned out to be white kids who didn't seem to understand the difference between watching a movie at home and in a public place with other people. Am I blaming all white kids? No. Am I blaming only white kids? No.

Because the thugs at the movie theater made it about race. THEY called their buddies and said "meet us so we can mess up some *white* boys". The irony being that whites are constantly chastised for being "racist" if they so much as notice someone is black.
This is what's known as "backlash". White people are sick and tired of tiptoeing around minorities, especially since it's clear that said minorities aren't concerned one bit if they offend *us*.

Yes, those "thugs" started it. Yes, saying they were going to get the "white" kids is racist. Yes, they should have been booted out of the theater.
My point is that the OP took one incident where a group of black kids were truly acting like thugs and racists and extrapolated it to the entire black race. These are HER words:

Sorry, she had my attention AND sympathy until I got to the part about "all" black people. From then on it was just another run-of-the-mill, knee-jerk tirade about something that was no doubt upsetting, but certainly not earthshaking. Those kids were jerks, but it's over. You're the fool when you let them get you that upset and they walk away smiling.
