Yes. Taxes are files for the 2004 YEAR. And since you got married in 2004 - even at the end of the year - it counts for the full year. Same as if you'd had a child in the latter part of the calendar year.

It's smart to plan these events so that you can get the tax benefits of a full year. I'm sorta joking, but not really.

Actually the fed refund I just got back yesterday was my return for 2003!!!
That's what happens when a company sells out and the comptrollers don't care!!
