Jerry's Place in PF

When we went the owner came out and talked to us. This is the ONLY Jerry's, he has no affiliation with any other anymore.

His cream of crab is awesome, and I never thought there was much difference in Scallop from place to place, so I'm guessing I never had really good scallops until we went there.

Little pricey but in my opinion worth every penny.

Jerry and his son are great. Very personable and they definitely want to make sure everyone in the restaurant is satisfied. The food is great yet a bit pricey but all of the samples they offered made up for the entree price. They had me sample the scallop wrapped in bacon, hush puppie, kale (very good) and a raw oyster....All the samples were superb along with the crabcake sandwich....:yay:

Went last week and had the haddock, kale and stewed tomatoes, thought the tomatoes were a little too sweet, the fish was great, but could have eaten a gallon of the kale.

Best crab cake ever! :yum: No filler at all. Me and the boyfriend split the grand daddy crab cake and only found 1 teeny tiny shell in 16oz of crab meat. That's is pretty damn good. Everything we had was so delicious. The muscles in butter & garlic sauce  Soo good! Homemade cole slaw :yum: The kale (which I'm not a big fan of) was outstanding! The services could not have been any better. Jerry also made his rounds and BS with us a few minutes about oysters. Even the ladies room had a basket with bobby pins, safety pins, lint roller, hair spray, tampons and what not in there :yay: They are on point with detail in that whole place.

OK got there around 3:30. Place was half full. Seated immediately. Jerry was running from table to table doing his thing.

Me - broiled rockfish topped with crab/lemon bearnaise sauce, applesauce with vanilla & cinnamon, stewed maters & tea.

Her - Ordered crabcake & softshell, (out of soft shell) so it became crabcake & haddock, fries, coleslaw & diet coke.

No appetizers.

The kale I'd read about here wasn't on the menu and the waitress didn't mention it but we noticed others getting it so we caught the waitress and asked to replace the fries with kale. Excellent move.

OK so everything was as awesome as described here. The crabcake is pure crab meat with no filler as the menu states. My rockfish was amazing and my friend liked it better than her haddock so we switched (we were sharing everything anyway) The stewed maters were very sweet but there were none left when we were done. The applesauce was delicious with just the right amount of vanilla & cinnamon. Coleslaw = just like mom used to make.

Ok, I saved the best for last.... that kale was absolutely the best I have ever had anywhere ever!!! Ever! ANYWHERE!! EVER!!! Seriously anywhere. The best. Somehow they infused it with the bacon and an almond flavor and an aftertaste of cayenne pepper (but not over done).

We noticed Jerry checking our plates to see if we left any food behind. HA! Like that was gonna happen! Then he brought out some crab dip on bread balls. Also delicious. He mentioned that you get free seconds on all side dishes. I should have asked for more kale...

Food takes a lil while to come out but was well worth the wait. Total was $69.40. I tipped cash so the tax man wouldn't mess with our waitress (she was very busy but took good care of us).

We left at 5:00 and there was a waiting line to get in. Told Jerry it was our 1st time there and he asked how we heard about it. I told him SOMD.com forums and he had a 5 star review here. He asked me to bring him a printout of this thread and I assured him I would. I'll definitely go back!

Went there yesterday for lunch....Got there about 11 and walked right in....By the time we left it was a little crowded....Food was excellent...Service was excellent....Atmosphere was great....They were painting some pictures on the walls...First time in my life I have ever ordered kale...Did and it was really good....Will go back for sure....Just wish it was a little bigger but I think that is the was Jerry wants it.....

:yeahthat:

We went there a month or so ago for the first time. Man, their kale was to d....I mean, too d...delicious...
Has ever a side dish gotten so many positive reviews.

 I don't care what the reviews say.... it ain't going on my plate.

Don't worry they will not put it on your plate. They put it in a little bowl!

Also ask for their banana cream pie, it's not on the menu either but it is heavenly. I always get an extra piece to take home for the next day.

Having Fun!
bump...

Finally made it here for dinner!

Crabcake was delicious! First time I ever ate kale. First bite shocked me a bit because I wasn't expecting the "hot" but it was very good! I'll probably order it next time we go!

Hushpuppies are only found in the Patuxent and the Potomac. The Hushpuppy boats go out early in the morning before sunrise. They scoop up the hushpuppies with giant nets and then have to wrestle them fighting little critters into the boat. The boat returns to shore where the hushpuppies are laid out on the beach to bake in the sun for a few hours until they get that nice golden brown color.

Really !

No, not really. The guy who posted this is a friendless troll who has a tendency to make up stories to make himself appear knowledgeable about many subjects, in reality the only subject he has any real knowledge of is pickled eggs and beans (explaining his friendlessness).

While this thread has aged with time, this classic was worth the read. :)

The great reviews were worth my time also. I had never heard of the place but will check into it now. Oh and BTW I love kale and thought everyone did. I even have a "kid friendly recipe" for it.

Finally got down there..and I will say, I am not a fish fan usually..but the beer battered haddock was sooooo freakin' good. It was seriously the best meal I have had out in a long time. a bit pricey, but with the awesome friendly service we had, and the delicious food, I won't even complain. I am really glad they are not closer to base, because I would be soooo fat. the sides were..ok. kind of stuff I can make myself..but I am telling you..the cream of crab and the beer battered haddock were a-maze-ing. I will def go back. hopefully sooner rather than later.

When ya wanna go?

Jerry's is great for a variety of reasons. Jerry is as charismatic as they come. I love how he walks around treats every customer the same... he brings out little samples for everyone to try too. He wants you to have a great experience at his restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy too. The inside is white table clothe but not too elegant. The food is fantastic with little twists on some of the sides like the stewed tomatoes and kale (as previously mentioned). It's a little pricey. But if you want all of the above, paying the extra scratch shouldn't be a bother.

Also, anyone else remember his Crab Bombs from his PG County location? Well, as I understand it, his nephew bought him out in a very ugly separation of sorts. His nephew still runs the PG County location and now, I believe, owns the rights to the Crab Bomb name. It's a shame that his nephew gets so much run off of name brand that Jerry built from the ground up. My grandfather frequented the PG County location twice a week for years, even attended Maryland football games on a regular basis with Jerry and Jerry Jr.. I mentioned his name to Jerry (really, he has a code name in Jerrys) and we were treated like royalty... in reality, it probably wasn't anything any better than the rest of the customers. ;)
