Conflicting HP on the 883.. 99 Stock 883 Dyno tested at 45 HP

New slightly Tuned 883 tested at 48 HP, but the factory says 53 HP.

Although Suzuki had come out with a comparable bike in 2004..

The CW dynamometer confirmed that the Marauder is a drag racer more in brochure- speak than in performance. It pumped out just 41.6 horsepower and 44.2 foot-pounds of torque at 5500 and 4500 rpm, respectively.. MUSt be a reason for the under 50 HP..

So technically if you could make a 1000cc turbo diesel bike with an extremely low rpm range that makes 49hp, but 300lb of torque. you'd still be in scooter territory?
Sure, but who'd buy it.. I know of only ONE diesel dirt bike being produced in the hope the Army buys off on it.. think KLM makes it.

Army is really big on Deisel only for logistical reasons.. and we scrapped the idea of bikes on our Bradleys for two reasons.. no diesel bikes, and no good american made dirt bikes that could meet the spec.. My Bradley at Ft Knox had the mounts for the motorcycle in the back still, but no motorcycle.. Would have been a GREAT addition.. instead we took our own bicycles to the field to speed up our missions.

Well Boeing needs to get on the ball then and make a JP-5/diesel powered dirt bike and sell it for 50k a peice.

Or Cannondale...lordy knows what happened to them....

I think the Air Farce uses KLR250's....

Plus diesel is used more extensively in europe than USA. It would need to be a Euro bike only. I'm sure someone could make one, heck I forget who they already got out a hybrid and/or a electric sportbike...

Maybe next spring if I still have the dirt bike we can try it again. :yay:

This time I'll wrap you completely in bubblewrap and make you wear fatboy sweats.
You must have missed the part where I said "I've had no interest ever since". :duh:

Sorry  I have trouble driving a vehical with an automatic transmission. Stepping on a non-existant clutch and catching the brake pedal makes for an interesting ride.

Honda's latest automatic isn't a bad looking bike.
looks like a scooter with fancy bodywork to me

*EDIT* ok i read the article. i remember the Gurney Alligator now...so the lower center of gravity does make sense.

Reminds me somewhat of the red bike on the anime "Akira".

BS Gal.. Is your Rebel Red?
You and I have PM'd about this. Maroon (for your color challenged guys). I'm glad we touched base. And it isn't an automatic for whomever posted that (I don't think he was referring to my big-arse Rebel, though)......I have to work all four limbs at a time. both feet, both arms, such a tard I am. His mom got flooded in the hurricane so he may have to go to Fla.. He said I am NOT to ride the bike while he is gone UNLESS I have a responsible person (son) here to watch. That's like when I was 15 and my parents told me not to have parties while they were gone.... :killingme
