Just a little note to say: IT'S OVER!

Apology accepted. Very nice. Thank you :p

I think she should be reimbursed for what it took from her, plus what she will have to do/go through to reestablish herself in her career. To me the message is: Marriage is not to be taken lightly. Buyer beware. You put a contract on the house, unless there is compelling reason, if you renege, you will forfeit some amount of capital. Marriage is an even bigger deal, entire families.

No thanks necessary. I was wrong and I got called out by somebody I respect.

Wait until she sees you in your assless Dong Thong!!

Special occasions ONLY! :lmao:

Are you a conglomerate?

Yes, we are... :eyebrow:

No way that woman deserved money for being dumped. I can see the argument for a marriage being a legally binding contract (though I don't agree with the way it's being argued here) but these two were not married. No infidelity, no hidden transgender issues, nothing except " I don't like you anymore"

 She got dumped. Sucks, but oh well!

The poll question specifically relates to a partner bailing... partner, to me, equals spouse. That's why I answered it the way I did.

The chick gave up her life and moved only to be dumped. That sucks, but it's part of life, so she needs to suck it up and deal. Suing is just making a business matter out of a emotional matter in this situation.

I won't deny your right to apologize, U don't deny my right to accept said apology graciously.

I think what makes the difference in this case, given what little I actually know about the case, and all that may be made up BS by the media, is that based on commitments from him she significantly altered her life.

Maybe he should have gone to freecreditreport.com....

That's where you can get your credit report. It would be illegal to obtain someone elses report without their written permission. I stand by my original post though. If she lied, then he had full right to renege on his end of things. Society has turned in to a whole snot load of whining pissants that sue because of their own lack of judgement and common sense.

if she lied.

I don't agree with you on the bolded text. Why are so many women on the public dole? I believe many will point to absentee father ism.

if she lied.

Even if she DIDN'T lie, he has every right to say "I don't want to marry you anymore"

I wonder how this story would go over nationally if it was a guy suing a woman for the same reasons. My guess would be, he'd be a laughing stock, and rightfully so.

Yep. Is he a dandy boy or what?

My views may seem traditional and outdated but I still believe that a man should be a man, and a woman should be a woman. If you don't understand what I'm saying count yourself as lucky, because as they say, ignorance is bliss.

the judge would decide that she was the guilty party, but she was too good looking to have to pay an award to him..

Well you keep stating the family aspect and if I am correct you have been married two times and they both have produced or involved children and in both cases it did not work out. Is that possibly why you place so much importance on the marriage/ family aspect?

Let me also state that I too have a very similar past situation but I would never stay and live in misery, abuse, cheating or whatever else to preserve an ideal family image. There are just some times when folks need to move on. Of course if all parties can get along that is all the better.

Most married people that divorce do not sue one another. They simply divide up the crap and move on. Obviously if kids are involved there are other issues to be dealt with.

I just have a real hard time buying that this lady was unable to come up with the money to move back home and somehow lost her ability to seek employment just because she got dumped. At least he didn't leave her at the alter.

of course my own experience shapes me.

The article was the inspiration for the thread but only because of course it resonates with me. Heartbreak is one thing, but we have financial considerations as well as quality of life issues that impact the familla

I think the sticky note is a tacky way to call it off, but she quit her job and moved, so it was ALL her decision. People break up all the time, so no I don't like where this will take us as far as relationships go. He gave her 5K which was more than generous. It's enough to get her where she wants to go and find another job - suing for more money makes her a greedy, vindictive witch. At her age she should've had her own money saved up since she claims to have been making $80K.

Neither one of them sounds like a prize.

Any man that would date her after this is nuts.

Yeah before the wedding ...... ah huh sure ......... don't deserve a dime ..

Business decision? That is incredibly sad point of view in my opinion.

People fall out of love, people lie, or simply decide something might be a bad "business decision" It happens, It sucks, and it hurts but as a good friend of mine says... "Get over it, or die of it, your choice."

"Bitter" is like a disease it will eat you up from the inside out if you let it.

reminds me of an episode of Sliders .... marriages were business contracts, aka corporate mergers ... and consummation was watched over by a group of lawyers to verify the agreement ...... :lmao:

So, if we're going to look at marriage from a contractual standpoint, let's discuss other contracts that are binding until one party dies. What other ones are there?

Did you watch the commercial?

Did you watch the commercial?

Yes, I have seen several of their commercials. I was simply stating a fact based upon the law. So unless both people have given express permission to either purchase something jointly and have their credit reports run. It is against the law to obtain someone else's credit history without their written consent.

I am guessing you are referring to the one where the dude and his wife live in the basement of their mother's home because her credit was whack and he only wishes he found out sooner.

I don't watch U-Tube video's. I am very, very afraid of a virus taking over my computer. :lmao:
