I'm 28, thanks for asking.

I don't feel it's elementary at all. There are categories of friends...
Aquaintances are the people you know casually, may share a good laugh with at the bar or at a party, but other than that they don't really cross your mind.

Friends are the people you let actually get to know you. Friends help each other out with things that might otherwise not be fun (moving, for example), and genuinely enjoy spending time together.

Best friends are the people who become extentions of your family... the people you see usually at least once a week, talk to at least once a week, and the people who understand you for who you really are. They're the type of people you can call at 3 am if something has gone horribly wrong, and no one gets upset over the late phone call. They're the people who have your back no matter what, and while you may not always agree, they don't judge your actions because they know you enough to understand the reasoning behind them.

Look again cause I just stopped last week. Today's mood is thanks to a wake up call at 4:00 from my darling dog and accidentally shutting the bedroom door with old kitty in the room who's winter coat is coming and she's shedding ridiculous amounts and stays up half the night cleaning herself right next to my head. I don't put her out because she's 10 and all the rest of the cats are under 3 and want to play half the night.

I think such an occasion gives you a pass to be more pissy than normal, as long as I can be forgiven for my crazy carb craving (mine's due on Wednesday).
