Kind of a weird question

Many of you know that my Claudia is very old; each winter, I expect it to be her last but she's still hanging in there.

My question is, when she finally dies I'd like to bury her in the yard. How does a person go about doing that? Obviously you don't just dig a hole and plop them in - don't you have to put them in a box or bag or something? I've never buried a pet before, so not really sure what's the best way to do it when the time comes.

(I told you it was kind of a weird question  )

If you want to "cover her"... think burlap. It is biodegradable and you probably have a direct source for such a bag...:larry:

I always wrap them in their favorite blanket or one of my choosing and Otter and/or our son digs a DEEP grave. Our son always puts in a toy as well.

That's what I always did too. And I mark the spot with a stone because it's usually in the woods further back on the property.

yep just plop them in with blankie and toy. I also always burry them in the sun so they will be warm.

Make sure you know where your utility lines and such are; I know someone who cut his phone line digging a grave for his dog. :-(

I used to joke that when my old man Gizmo (my doggie) died I would have him stuffed and put him on the entertainment center. When his time came, I had him cremated. He's in a very nice wooden box with a velvet cover. He even has a little doggy death certificate. I had his paw print placed in a ceramic heart and kept a lock of his tail hair. I couldn't bring myself to bury him in the yard. Just something to think about. I think of my pets as family, and I wouldn't bury a family member in my back yard. I know you love your kitty, and you'll do what you feel is best for you and her. It's hard loosing a pet.

As one who has buried many a pet, just dig a freaking hole and be done with it. Two feet is more than enough.

OK, now I am sad for you. You're gonna miss her worse than I think you think. I mean, it's not like she's some freaking human. This is a big deal!

Well, there ya go, Vrai.

Ugh, I torture myself all the time thinking about my dog. I'm having him cremated. I dont' think we're going to be in this house longterm, and I'd hate to leave him behind. Weird, huh? I'm not going to save his ashes on the mantle or anything though. I'm going to spread them some place special.
