I would definitely get the stand-up kind, if I wanted one.

Well, I wanted the other kind, the ex wanted that kind, I got it for him for Christmas one year and for some reason he didn't want it anymore.

I have one I never use. I think if it was stored on the counter I would but I don't have the room. So it gets shoved to the back of the cabinet with all the attachments and I forget about it.

Is it a Kitchenaid heavy duty one?

I am so very blessed
I have a KitchenAid Professional Series stand mixer. I think that sucker can hold 6 quarts of whatever you're making, and the motor on it is some kind of powerful. I use it pretty frequently making stiff cookie dough and so forth. I love, love, love it. I bought it off of eBay three years ago NIB, but the price was no different than some of the advertisements that I see in flyers and on the shelf stores.

I had one of the smaller KitchenAid stand mixers and turned it back in when the motor burned out just after a few uses. That's when I decided to upgrade to the larger Pro machine.

I also have an 11-cup Professional Series food processor. It is absolutely wonderful! I also bought this off of eBay NIB.

33 yrs & we r still n luv
I think I want one. I wish I'd gotten one a long time ago, but other priorities and all. I was wondering how many people have them and use them? How many have them taking up space in your cupboards? I'd like to make bread and I don't like the way bread from breadmakers comes out. I'd probably do pizza dough also, but that's about it.

You can't go wrong with a kitchenaid! I have my mom's. It's at least 25 years old and still going strong!

And mine resides in a cabinet on a shelf that raises up to waist level when I want to use it.

Oh, cool. DR is pretty handy. He could make a shelf that rises up! I just know they are real heavy and it would have to reside somewhere on the counter and we don't have the space for it. Unless, we got one of those little butcher block tables.

I love her wild,wild hair
I have all Kitchen Aid appliance and small appliances. I love the mixer, have had it for eight years and use it constantly. I have the grinder attachment and make my own country and Italian sausage. I like the warming drawer the best. I make sweet dough with the mixer and let it rise in the warming drawer. You've never had monkey bread until you've had it made with sweet dough. The only appliance I have that isn't Kitchen Aid is the stove and if they had sold a double convection oven with four burners, a grill and a griddle I would of bought it, had to get different brand instead. They are great at servicing also since I've had a few issues with the microwave and fridge. Happy Baking to you...............

If you bake, a Kitchen Aid stand mixer is a requirement. I honestly believe that unless you bake professionally, there is no need to get anything other than the Artisan. The others are more power/size than is needed, and the Classic series is just a tad too wimpy for stiff dough.

I've had mine for about 6 years, use it weekly, sometimes multiple times a week, and love it, love it, love it!

The Artisan typically retails for about $350, but if you pay attention to sales, online advertisements, and such, you can easily get one for $250. I've purchased at least 3 for friends as wedding gifts and never paid more than $250.

You should have a Kitchenaid for a lifetime, so when you pick out a color, make sure you'll love it for a long time. Tangerine orange may seem "cool" this week, but in 5 years, will look damn silly.

Oh, it won't be too heavy.
Thanks for all the input forum peeps! I don't bake, but I'm thinking it would be a good thing to learn to do on cold weekends coming up. The Walmart one is out. I'll look for a good price on the midrange model. Flip up or not is the only decision now. Leaning toward not. Oh, and black, for sure.

On order. $250 @ Amazon. Someone wanted red, but this was the only one at this price.

Help! Got a Kitchen Aid a few years ago and I'm disappointed with it...I always end up with dry ingredients unmixed in the bottom of the bowl. Does it have an adjustment I can make? If you all love yours, I must be doing something wrong!

Well, crap. I made space on the counter and am expecting him to make fresh bread each week. Like that's gonna happen. :roflmao:
