It is when you don't have time to shop. :banghead: The cast iron pieces I've found have been cheap and I'm still debating on the merits of non-stick vs. regular. :ohwell:

When you get them seasoned they will be non stick. How many castiron pieces do you need. I have a 10" skillet and a 20" skillet depends on if I need a little cornbread or a lot. A little fried chicken or...
I think those castiron skillets with the grill/ribs would be great to fry/ grill a steak.
as for knives I have a cutco serated knife I like to use for seperating chicken and I would recomend the Henkels they do not come very sharp but a few strokes on the steel that is included with most sets produces a keen razor sharp instrument. :yay:

I had some very old and well-seasoned cast iron pans that are now gone and I'd like to replace. There was a dutch oven (deep fry pan) with lid, a round griddle, and a large frying pan with glass lid. I tried using the Revereware skillet to cook some pesto-stuffed chicken breasts and it wasn't the same. :ohwell:

Henckel's is okay, but I love the Wusthof. I got a small and a large Wusthof Santoku knife for the ex for Christmas last year and absolutely loved them but of course they're gone too. They are without a doubt the best knives I've ever used. :yay:

I was surprised to find these knives in Target, relatively CHEAP! Didn't someone mention Consumer Reports test on knives, and Henckel rating #1, or their best buy??

OH and Target had Henckel Santoku knives as well!!

I looked at them yesterday but didn't like the feel of them like I did the Wusthof. And yes, I had posted Consumer Reports rated them highly as they did the Wusthof.

yes, panman, sorry for the typo. Most of the pans on e-bay.. (Search Griswold) are older, look for the BIG Griswold seal on the bottom.

I saw that. The shipping is going to kill you though. :yikes: Griswold is probably what I had, but they were so "well-seasoned" you couldn't make it out any more. They were MUCH heavier than I've seen out there new.

the #8 pans I saw quoted $20 for shipping.. and the pan itself was about 25 - 30 i think.. Have to find a local supplier.. meet him in Peebles parking lot at midnight...

They call me ... Sarcasmo
We have a, um, "more affordable", set of Henkels knives...I hate them. They are serrated and supposedly never need sharpening, what a load of BS that is. I am tempted to grind down the serration and start from scratch. I have a sharpener that will sharpen serrated knives but the serration is too fine for the stones to be effective.

My next set will be Wustof knives, something with some weight and an edge that is easily honed.
