That was the cheap set I got (they were free). Ugh. They're nasty.aps45819 said:Just don't get serrated knives. Very hard to sharpen.
Dougstermd said:When you get them seasoned they will be non stick. How many castiron pieces do you need. I have a 10" skillet and a 20" skillet depends on if I need a little cornbread or a lot. A little fried chicken or...
I think those castiron skillets with the grill/ribs would be great to fry/ grill a steak.
as for knives I have a cutco serated knife I like to use for seperating chicken and I would recomend the Henkels they do not come very sharp but a few strokes on the steel that is included with most sets produces a keen razor sharp instrument.
I was surprised to find these knives in Target, relatively CHEAP! Didn't someone mention Consumer Reports test on knives, and Henckel rating #1, or their best buy??Dougstermd said:I would recomend the Henkels they do not come very sharp but a few strokes on the steel that is included with most sets produces a keen razor sharp instrument.

There was a dutch oven (deep fry pan) with lid, a round griddle, and a large frying pan with glass lid. I tried using the Revereware skillet to cook some pesto-stuffed chicken breasts and it wasn't the same.

and check out the panman www.panmam.com .. He has two makes he reccomends, Griswold, and Wagner (?)
itsbob said:yes, panman, sorry for the typo. Most of the pans on e-bay.. (Search Griswold) are older, look for the BIG Griswold seal on the bottom.
the #8 pans I saw quoted $20 for shipping.. and the pan itself was about 25 - 30 i think.. Have to find a local supplier.. meet him in Peebles parking lot at midnight...jazz lady said:I saw that. The shipping is going to kill you though. Griswold is probably what I had, but they were so "well-seasoned" you couldn't make it out any more. They were MUCH heavier than I've seen out there new.
I saw that the shipping was about the same price as the darn pans.itsbob said:the #8 pans I saw quoted $20 for shipping.. and the pan itself was about 25 - 30 i think..
I don't go anywhere NEAR The Square at night.Have to find a local supplier.. meet him in Peebles parking lot at midnight...
