I never read or heard about all 4 girls. But I do agree, that was wrong.

I don't trust helicopters. Never have.
They require too much maintenance and they don't glide for sh*t even if they are supposed to rotate down.

I inagine in a shithole like LA a helo is the best nway to get around if you can afford it, tho I'd much rather a fixed wing.

Given the reported weather conditions, that helicopter should have probably stayed on the ground. I believe MSP helos would have been grounded based on the reports. I did listen to an interview this morning from an aviation guy (consults with networks) and he said it seems like the pilot was flying VFR in the fog and low ceiling (1300'), hit a thick cloud and dropped altitude to regain VFR then hit the hillside.
