Laptop screen broke

Mine did too. Wireless went out twice, speakers went out and then this.

:yay:
Wireless was the reason it got fixed under warranty, but for WHATEVER reason, the bastages decided the screen needed replacing too and apparently did more harm than good...and there had been something loose inside since I got it back too (not the screen, inside the "guts" I assumed it was just a fan or something so I let it go )

I will get back to you about replacing the screen. I'll see how hard it would be to do. Is it 17"? Thats what I'd need.

and who mentioned an XPS? Mousebaby I believe? What condition is it in? I assume its a laptop? How much

Dell XPS M1710 Review (pics, specs) Mine is the black-top, not the red...

I'll check when I get home. The wireless antenna is in the top isn't it? Maybe thats what went bad. Mine was the little adaptor and under warranty they replaced it, leaving off two screws. Second time I just got a wireless card.

hmm, I can't remember what went bad for mine. I think it was a software glitch though that was covered under an unlimited warranty for these computers because it was like, a BIOS thing or something (I seem to recall something like that, but like I said, I can't totally remember...there had to be more for me to have to send it in for fixing.)

She and I have conversed about the M1710 as we both have them.

Don't start any rumors and have my ass kicked by Hoover!

Upon further inspection, it appears that all I will need to do is superglue what I would call a nut (I'd say it at least functions as a nut, not sure if it may have another name because it isn't quite the kind you can wrench on and off ) into where it came out, and then put a screw through the front of the screen, the hole in the k-lock spot, and screw into the nut. Easy-smeezy.
Hopefully it will be that simple. It just appears that the k-lock part is what broke away from the screen and at some point opening the computer, the screw/nut combination got loose/came out. I just don't know if the outside of the moniter will be able to take the added strain if it is the only thing having pressure put on it when I open the lid.

It will all be interesting to see how it works out  Luckily it appears to be something very simple

PS: if glue doesn't work, it looks like it can be soldered in there  I don't know how heat-resistant it is though because it (the nut) looks like brass or something :eyebrow: Lord knows I don't have a soldering iron though  :addtoxmaslist:
