I have a 2004 Craftsmen Lawn Tractor that needs repair and service. The blade deck will not stay above the ground and keeps bottoming out tearing circular divits into my lawn.

Does anyone know a repairman that could fix this problem for a reasonable fee?

Please PM me, or respond to this thread.

Gotta agree 100% with Unix on going to Dave's.

Better get it there quick. I used him a couple of years ago for a tiller repair and it took him a couple of weeks to get to it.

Are you sure they'll work on a Craftsman mower?

WM- Have you checked and set the leveling wheels on the mower deck? Also, check the spindle/pulley assembly and make sure the mounting bolt are in place and tightened up.

The deck hangar either broke or has come out of the mounting hole. I just fixed one and it was fairly easy.

What you are describing is because one of the rods that go from the front of the tractor to the front of the mower deck has come off on one side. This actually happens to me at least twice a year. Very simple to fix. Put it back in the holes and replace the spring clip. If the bracket under the tractor is not straight, put a big wrench on it and bend it back straight.

You could also give Lusby Motor Co in Prince Frederick a call.... 410-535-0442 they might be able to help ....

They are also selling John Deere and Toro mowers now.... just so you know...

I agree with giving them a call to find out for sure but from past experience most Deere Dealers are pretty exclusive and only work on their own brand. Lusby Moror Co. is very good and i have several neighbors that have JD's and Lusby offers pickup and drop off service and they have used them and are very pleased with their service.

We used to use Lusby Motors for repair service but we had to take our mower back repeatedly and it never really got fixed right. That was about 3 years ago so maybe they've changed since then. That was when we switched over to Carrolls. Carrolls is farther away but we got good service from them. Lusby Motors is much closer, and if you have neighbors who have rec'd excellent service then I'd try them out. I didn't realize they were selling Toro products now too. I'll have to stop in.

luvscats, i am not sure they sell Toro, all my neighbors that use them have John Deere's that they get serviced there, i've been there many times to buy hardware, but almost if not all the equipment i have seen by their repair bays have been JD's.
