I remember last year on one of the local news channel they were talking about this law and they showed cops going from house to house just writing tickets one morning in a pretty nice neighborhood. so yes they do do it if it's in your driveway.
UFB!!!! Cops don't have anything better to do??? :duh:

You don't remote start your cart do ya?? :tap:

Sounds like I have to start taking my key out of the truck even if it's in my driveway. And setting the brake. NOT!

That is crazy. I guess I could see it in a neighborhood as well, but when you have like hardly any houses around you, and nothing but, woods how could they possibly do that? Anything could happen around here.

Every morning its cold outside Charles County gets stolen cars yesterday in about 45 minutes thugs took 3 cars that were in there driveway's warming up. Its a problem every winter, true most places you can warm your car up with no problems but the Waldorf area is not the place. You might say its not hurting anybody doing that, but insurance companies will look at a area and see that its prone the car thieves, and that increase everybody's insurance in that area. Im sure its cheaper for insurance in say Calvert, St.Mary's and Charles then up in there in beautiful Prince Georges'.

Just read that in Charles County it is illegal (also stupid) to leave a vehicle running unattended.

I guess it's easier to make Joe Average the criminal and impose a $60.00 ticket than it is to run down a car theif.

Another great law. :yay:

It's all good... I know you get extra senstive this time of year when you have to make your boys drag their little red wagon to SFW in the cold on dumpster diving day...:huggy:

"no I won't open that can of ham and sell you the bone for a dollar!" "no I won't fit those cart tires with chains! I don't care if it's going to snow tomorrow or not!"

I think I recall hearing on TV at the time that itwas for PG County a few weeks ago and if I recall correctly it was also one point on the license... did Charles County adopt this part too?

I have a remote starter on my truck, and the system makes it impossible to steal. If you try to put the truck in gear, or step on the brake without the key in the iginition and turned to the "on" position, it shuts off.

I also use the system if I have to run in someplace for a coffee, or drop something off. I can remove the key, and leave the truck runing with the same security as remotely starting it.

My truck is a diesel, and it's important, especially when cold to let it run for 5-10 minutes before driving off. The system is nice in the winter, there's heat wating for me in the cab when I get in, and in teh summer, there's a chill in teh air in the cab by the time I get to it.

I can start it from like 150 yards away, from INSIDE a building. If I got a ticket, I'd have to fight it just for principle. That law is BS.
