Anybody here do the glass of pure lemon and water (no sugar) every morning thing? If so what are your thoughts on it?

Its supposed to be good to help cleanse the liver daily. Helping rid you of toxins. Before I pucker up and jump on another bandwagon I need a little 'real people' feedback. I mean, straight lemon is not on my 'yummy' list anywhere.

This is an indian Ayurveda natural treatment to stimulate your digestion and build immunity and remove toxins. I have done this off and on for the last 20 years. It does work however, you should watch your diet as well. just because this helps eliminate toxins does not give you the green light to not eating healthy. This has especially helped me after I have my gall bladder surgery.

The other routine that I do religiously for the past 25 years is drinking lemon and honey tea after dinner. Hot water 1 tablespoon natural honey, Half fresh lemon and steep tea for 4-5 minutes.

This article may help.

When I remember to buy them, I like to eat a lemon like an orange in the morning. Don't care whether it's good for me or not. Rough on the teeth and gums, though. It's an acid bath which can mess up the enamel on the teeth.

I do that in the summer but I kick it up a notch with 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper and 1/2 tsp. salt mix and dip the lemon in the mixture the squeeze the lemon a bit and suck the juice. yum!!

I take cholesterol medicine and I'm not supposed to eat grapefruit for some kind of liver reason. I wonder if that much lemon would fit into the same category.

Are you sure about that? I believe you can eat grapefruit, but not within a certain time frame, as in so many hours between the med and the grapefruit. At least that is what I have learned through my hub's cholesterol thing. But, now that he is running (and considered an ultra runner) all that is out the window, and he no longer has to take the med. Just FYI.

Mine has a warning label, no grapefruit.

I love water with a spritz of lemon juice concentrate or a twist of lemon. Thing2 likes it, also.

We don't drink it for liver cleansing-we just like it. I don't drink a lot of sweet beverages & my only artificially sweetened drink I have is my diet coke, which is rouhly 1 a day.

There ARE some meds which specify grapefruit as a bad thing. But because they specify grapefruit instead or citrus fruit in general, I think lemons might be okay.

Decided I'm going to try it and kinda look at it as helping my liver not work so hard. It can't hurt, may even have other benefits. Maybe there will be no noticeable difference, but that doesn't mean its doing nothing.

I just wanted to put this out there because I think it's neat and others might, too.

I received this as a gift a few years ago:

You put fruit and/or herbs in the bottom, it smashes them up a little, and then strains them into your water so you don't get any large lumps. I really love mine. It comes with a list lot of weird flavor combinations that I wouldn't have thought to try like watermelon and basil.
