Let's talk Ob/Gyn's again...

Will try to conceive in Feb. So...please tell me the Ob/Gyn that you like and then type one positive thing and one negative thing about that person (or his/her office).

Dr. Lisa Polko in Leonardtown is the best. Her phone number is 301-997-1788. She is very personable. She does NOT treat you like another "chart". She takes time to discuss things with you. And in the 6 years I've been seeing her, I've NEVER seen her in a bad mood. I went to her with female problems, I had uterine fibroids. My first appointment with her lasted abouve 45 minutes. She brought out literature, put options up on the white board in the examining room.......and most of all, she looks you in the eye when she talks to you. My cousins go to her, she delivered my God Daughter, my daughter goes to her, her friends go, my friends go...........in my opinion, she is the best thing that's happened to the women in St. Mary's county.

I woul defientaly agree with Misteresa1965.....Dr Polko delivered my 4th child and came into the room, rubbed my back and held my hand for my saddle block. She was wonderful with both me and my husband. the nurses are great, and they call back the same day if you have a prolbem

If it happens for us, I think that I will go to Polko. I just called the local ob/gyn offices and she actually has the best hours (I work full-time). The only downside is that she is Board-Eligible (per a website that just couldn't be updated) and not Board-Certified. I want to know why.

Any doctor can be "board certified" in any field they want. If you want a specialist, dig a little deeper. Just my pennies.

I have to agree. Dr. Polko delivered our son and she was great. If you go to her office, I like Nurse Practitioner Ann Naru too.

I saw Dr. Polko for my ob during my pregnancy with victoria..I remember her singing..she'll be coming out the vagina when she comes..it was hysterical...made the labor go by quick! I also see Anne Naru and she is fabulous as well.

As a gyno, helping me make very hard choices about permanent v. long term solutions for birth control, Dr. Polko truly, TRULY gave me the time and hope to hold out for some options. She is one of a kind and the ONLY DOCTOR I could EVER imagine have, if I could indeed, ever have children, be my OB.

The only down side I've ever encountered, which is a plus if you stop and think, is that you will NEVER be in and out of her office. Do not plan on being seen exactly on time (but definitely show up on time!) and don't even think you can estimate the length of visit!

When you go for your appointment, if you choose her, bring music or a book, or a craft that you're working on... Or next year's taxes... She just takes time with her patients and that is that.

She was singing "Push It" by Salt n Pepa when she came in my room She was also singing during my c-section, but I don't remember what it was....I was a little out of it, but I do remember her singing, thinking she was a little off her rocker
