I didn't know they had a public library there... where is it? I drive through the campus every day.
It's on the school grounds, obviously. However, if you're going North on 5 from Ridge you'll notice two crosswalks. Take the first crosswalk and follow the brick walkway passing the cafeteria and school store on your right. It should be the first building on your left on that walkway. They have a pretty decent selection that includes microfilm.

What if I don't know where the cafeteria and school store are?
Would I go right or left on the crosswalk?

Are those the crosswalks where those signs are in the middle of the street - where students slowly stroll by as they gab on their cellphones?

Yessum. Those are the crosswalks I speak of.

However, you cannot necessarily park right at those crosswalks. If traveling North again towards Leonardtown you will want to turn right at the flashing light school sign, this will be before the crosswalks. Park there. You will then want to walk down a flight of stairs leading to the brick walkway. Follow the brick walkway under the arch and past the cafeteria which will be marked by metal tables and chairs outside (if school is in season). As soon as you pass the cafeteria you will see a connected building to the left, this will be before the second arch. The second arch will be noted by glass and bricks. You will want to make a left right before this second arch and the doors to the library should smack you in the face as soon as you make this left.:yay:

Good Luck. I have three more finals myself and a 15 page paper.:dead:

This has undoubtedly been the toughest semester to date. I just turned in my 30 page paper today. I honestly don't know what I'll do with myself after the semester has ended, I've been working so hard. Hell, I might as well do another research paper for break just for personal interest.

Well, I was on Great Mills Rd in the evening recently, stopped at the McD's next to the Big Lots to get my 11-yr old daughter something to eat (drive-thru), and she said to me, "This place is kind of skanky." Understatement! Lots of "interesting" people hanging out in the parking lot, loud and obnoxious. I would not have gotten out of the car there. Heard the punks working inside saying MF over and over, which was lovely. I can't say there is a particular road that is as nasty in Waldorf as GM Rd is, but I could be wrong. The California area is much nicer, and I feel much safer up that way.

The LP library itself is beautiful, but again, I probably wouldn't feel safe walking from the parking lot into the building at night by myself. I'm lucky that Charlotte Hall is our closest library, but L'town is very nice too.

Kind of funny, because when I came down here to look at houses one happen to be on what I referred to as the "back side" of Lexington Park and my agent and I was kind of speechless at the entire community. I called it "The New Barry Farms" for those who have been in Barry Farms in DC. After I moved I did only shop on the "front side" Rte 235 at the CVS and McDonald's, Pizza Hut and the SFW I love. Basically all of the same stores are along GM Rd but I knew that was the ghetto part of town. Doesn't take a genius.

But then over the summer, laziness kicked in and I was not trying to battle 235 one evening and ventured out to shop on GM RD and was comfortable. Just reminds me of DC and I have lived in the roughest parts of NE and SE DC. I think I am less afraid and surprised with Great Mills Rd because it is probably the closest to "home" that I can find here. When I shop along there I don't feel like I am out of place though some of the locals look at me like I am. But my "coming up" in life is a personal trek, doesn't mean I forgot and I will probably never act like I forgot.

But I haven't come that far yet because I am still VERY uncomfortable in many stores at the Target/Lowe's shopping center with the exception of Lowe's, Pier 1, Staples, and Bath & Body. I of course will not go in Chik-Fil-A or Michael's EVER again. And I can see why your daughter feels that way, it's because she is use to better and should not get use to less but it's important that she can cope because that's a life skill because you never know where you may have to stop at one day. Especially in certain spots of DC where you can go to any gas station and have children and homeless people asking to pump your gas for change. You can't scream for the DC police and you can't say skank get away, so you have to blend until you get back to your own place of comfort.

I know I can go on and on but I enjoy certain topics and knowing the reputation of my new home was extremely enlightening. Thank you all for keeping it real. :yay:

Why not?

Was VERY uncomfortable there. Michael's I have been to about 4 times and only one person made me feel like they didn't mind talking to me much less helping. I take a store's friendliness as a hint of what the store as a whole is like. Even if it is fake friendliness the separation of personal feelings from that of business I respect. The staff at Michael's just didn't make me feel like a customer.

Chik-Fil-A those teens there are just rude and I don't know if it was a personal experience or just how they are. So I won't go back.
