We are in the market for a new washer dryer set. I am having a hard time deciding between the LG Tromm steam washer and the Whirlpool Duet steam washer. Does anyone out there own these machines? If so, what are the pros and cons??? Enquiring minds want to know! :snacks:

I just bought a new set, I would have loved to get these pricey machines but my fiscally conservative side kicked in. I just couldn't bring myself to pay that much for a stinkin' washer and dryer even though we could afford it. It isn't going to make folding laundry any more fun after all. I bought a nice set from the GE Profile line which has a large capacity as well but cost just a little under $1000 with the rebates. That being said.... I lusted after the Duet Super Capacity Plus set in Aspen Green. Go for it girl!

Oh, I did spend the extra money to get the seriously nice fridge I wanted though.

Nothing to see here
I bought a Kenmore HE5t Steam™ 4.0 cu. ft. King Size Capacity Plus Front Load Washer with matching dryer about a year ago and still am very happy with it. :yay:

I've actually found the Duet reasonably priced at an online store and Best Buy has promised to match whatever I can find as long as the model numbers match plus they will add 10% of the difference! SO, I found the Duet at Crate and Home with Free Delivery, the washer is 1159.00 and the Dryer is 1145.00 and the pedestals are 199.00.

BB has them for the washer 1599.99, for the Dryer 1359.99 and the pedestal's at 229.00 ea. I think they didn't see me coming when they made their little price match guarantee! :lmao:

Whoa.... still pricey but they look sooo nice. I told hubby if I bought that set we'd have to put granite countertops in the laundry room!:roflmao:

 I couldn't have granite countertops in my laundry room with my kitchen needing a whole new make over. But that's going to have to wait.

Ugh, I know what you mean. I just had my kitchen completely remodeled last summer. Then we suddenly moved this winter. Now I'm back to needing a kitchen remodel AGAIN! :twitch: The idea of having my kitchen tore apart for a month again makes me want to weep.

A MONTH!! :faint: I was going bonkers over the week I spent without a kitchen when I had the floors done upstairs. There is no way I could survive a month! :shocking:

It was tough, especially with a 1 and 2 year old. I was washing sippy cups and bottles in the bathroom sink! It's gonna really suck to do it again, especially since now we live out in the boonies and going out to eat is a trek. :ohwell:

My mother works in appliance repair and she said LG has a life expectancy of 3 years. She said to stick with Whirlpool and other long-standing brands. She also said all of the systems with lots of electronics get the most service calls.

I was looking at the Kenmore and Whirlpool systems at Sears over the weekend. They are really nice, but we just got a basic set for the new house last year so we have a while before I can justify a new set. And when I do get a new set I will utilize my mother's Bray & Scarff scratch and dent and employee discount to get them dirt cheap.

Thanks for the headsup! I am definitely getting my Whirlpool set. I just have to wait for the money to come in. I will be getting it from Crate and Home online because Best Buy and Lowes refused to work with me. Their loss!

My husband just gave me a brand new Aspen Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer and dryer for Christmas. :yay:

I  my new washer and dryer!

It is a big improvement over my old set even though my old ones were front load washer and dryer too.

My new washer and dryer have steam clean, wrinkle feature, timed built in ready, etc. I also have the pedestals to storage the soaps in the drawers.
