Kinda why I stay with the simple phones. Too many devices not field proven. I don't have a need for anything other than a phone, but I do use the MP3 player in mine. VZ8600. Had it for almost 2 years now.

:yeahthat: I use my phone all of 10 seconds a day during the week (to wake my husband up for work) and never on the week-end.

Me: (0630am) Time to wake up.
Him: Ok
Me: (0635am) Time to get up.
Him: Ok

I buy the cheapest new/refurbished phone I can get off Ebay.

 A card? A memory card? Sorry, I'm a little phone technical slow.
Isn't this "shutting itself off" issue considered a defect? Should I have to go out a purchase a card OR should Verizon cough up the money for it?

Hoover has one, and has had it now for about 6 weeks with no problems. She is EXTREMELY picky on her phones and she absolutely  this phone.

Maybe is might be as simple as taking it into a Verizon store and asking for a firmware check/update...

Something else I just thought of, I update our phones once a month by doing a *228, and selecting option 2. This downloads recent tower/roaming changes and maybe firmware fixes come in that way.

well i don't know about yours..but mine shuts off when i try to do too many things at once....so it is a memory issue with the phone....i mean it comes right back on and it never happens during a call so it's not a big deal (for me)

your problem might be different....
