Linens and shoe boxes for shelter cats and dogs

ArkRescue

Adopt me please !
We are doing another round of linen and shoe box collections for the shelter critters to use. If you can round up any unwanted linens and shoe boxes, maybe add in some from your church, a neighbor, or relative also, the critters at the shelter would appreciate the material to lay on between themselves and the concrete floor or the cage they are in.

Shoe boxes make great temporary beds for the cats to sleep in! They usually try to "hide" in the litter box if they don't have a shoe box that provides a better place to hide when they are frightened.

If you can drop off your donation to the shelter that would be great. If you can not, please let us know and we will arrange to get your donation to the shelter. We usually have at least 1 person in each County that volunteers to round up the donations from those who can't deliver them, and take them to the shelter. We are grateful to everyone that donates for caring about the critters.

We generally target Tri-County as being most in need of these items, however you are welcome to take your donation to the shelter of your choice. Thanks for caring about the shelter critters.

I made a large drop off of blankets last month

:yahoo:

That's great - I was by there a couple months ago with a load of the same, and I also gave them the bag of milk replacer I had purchased for the squirrels that my neighbor never brought me (hurricane I think it was that took out trees and left many baby squirrels in need of care) .... I'm glad he didn't, as I know absolutely nothing about squirrels.

I stopped in there again last month to give them more linens (not a huge haul) and the leftover guinea pig food after Teddy died. We had Teddy for 6 years. Teddy came with 2 other males we picked up at the shelter. The other 2 were adopted out to the small animal rescue gal for her children. I will miss cuddling the guinea pigs - they are such little sweeties! I miss hearing Teddy squeal when I come home. He always had lots of food/water/toys, so I like to think that was his way of saying "Hi Mom, I'm so glad you're home"

I bet the cats would get into them .... they like to hide when they are frightened. I can't imagine the shelter would turn down the cartons.

I just cannot get myself to go to the shelter. Even driving by it on the main road (237?) makes me sad. I have taken donations to ARF in Lexington Park. I think they save some of the animals from Tri-Co. That's where I got my rescue from.

I live in Waldorf and actually have a ton of shoe boxes I need to get rid of...what shelter do I take them to?

and I took a few litter pans and things down to SMAWL for the new kitty place.... very nice place!!

I will have to see what is in the basement that we dont use. Kitty has claimed some things to sleep on but I may be able to find a few things. Maybe even get one shipment together with kris10's shoe boxes.

I know that Tri-County will use the shoe boxes for the cats. Not sure if Humane Society does but we can ask.

What about pillows? I have a couple that we bought but they were too thick/fluffy. Where is the shelter located? What are the hours?

You may want to give them a call to ask about the pillows.
