At least it's not tuna casserole.

My mom used to make calf brains when I was a kid. :twitch: I learned at a very young age that I could go without eating a lot longer than my mom could stand to see me not eat. Liver and onions was good for 3 days before she finally threw it out and fixed me a PBJ.

Tuna casserole, liver and onions, potatoes and spam casserole, spam..grew up on those meals. We(8 sibs) all hated liver and onions but tolerated the other stuff. Our mother was definitely there to serve our father and he loved liver and onions so we saw it 3,4 times a month. The ironclad rule at our house was you didn't leave the table until your plate was clean, so we always choked it down...ugh

Mom used to make tuna casserole and I recall choking it down. I recall having spam, but not how it was prepared. Dad was born and raised in Hawaii where it was a thing.

My mother used to take 2 cans of spam and poke cloves into them to flavor them while she roasted them. I remember those dinners, a slice of spam, au gratin potatoes and spinach...ugh..lol

Disgusting! I'm sorry you had to deal with that. Although, I'd take the taters and spinach. 😊

I had 2 meals I refused to eat, my mom’s potato soup and her goulash, now I love potato soup and goulash as long as I don’t think of it as being anything like my mom made.

So does rattlesnake, so I've heard. I won't be trying any of that.
Rattlesnake was good as long as you didn’t know what it was. It was just deep fried and flaky with very little taste of its own, grandpa told us what it was the next day so it was already past the gagging it up stage.

I make fun but spam was a childhood pantry staple. That and canned chow mein.

Dad are brains as a kid. That was the one thing I don't remember mom making for him while I was growing up.

Don't forget Tongue. It's been a long time ago and I still have nightmares.
Mom packed us a bag lunch every day and tongue sammiches were often in there. Mmmm good, too. We raised beef on our farm, so nothing went to waste.

Couple of the more authentic local street taco places sell tongue tacos. The ones from Tacos Hernandez are bangin'...
