Besides, sounds like I'd have to get in line behind Hank.

Hell 27 is nothing...I know a married couple...in their late 40's still living with their parents and aren't working.

Don't get me wrong, while I love my adult children, there comes a time when you can only help them so much. Work is work, a paycheck is a paycheck...no matter what you get paid. You didn't have it before, you can surely use it now...just saying
When I was 26, my mother came to live with me. Her relationship had gone sour and she couldn't pay the rent by herself. A few months after moving in, she found out that she had breast cancer and would be unable to work while she was going through treatment.
I think it's all in what you make of it. I know a very neat family that all lived together in a huge house so they could provide childcare for one another, spend time with each other, and support each other while they were working and going to school. Very neat set up in which they all contributed to the household and it saved them a lot of money and from a lot of stress.
So it seems the common negativity doesn't stem from adult children actually living with their parents but rather adult children who are free-loaders and have no desire to offload from their parents...
