I want pipers at my sendoff, it just says something special.
The pipers were playing "The Minstrel Boy" in one video, a poem which is set to the old Irish tune called "The Moreen."

The Minstrel-Boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death you'll find him;
His father's sword he has girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him.
"Land of song!" said the warrior-bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy rights shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"

The Minstrel fell!—but the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said, "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and bravery!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free,
They shall never sound in slavery."

:yay: Yes, it is.

Thing2 had told me that the IAFF (Their Union) had already announced this was going to take place. Then, I saw the "IAFF Massed Pipes and Drums" posted on FB making the Formal Request post for Volunteers, which they do for all fallen Firefighters. It's so moving.

Also, Pipers are reminded that you should report with an instrument that is in good working order AND you should be able to perform the tunes with little to no note mistakes. Remember, we honor our fallen and their families with our music, it should be played well!!
Thank you,
P/M Nova Pipes and Drums
