Well..... now that you mention it..

GoldWings have never been built anywhere else but here in the US..

I got nothing against American Bikes. But would like to see Harley come out with ONE real performance bike.. Maybe a Transverse Twin, or four.. Why can't ONE American bike be about performance?

Lets see a Harley out of the Box with 170 HP.. where the rice rocket riders would be in awe.. THAT would be awesome.

100+ is just fine for me and proves to be about perfect for the daily street ride. Many rice rocket riders are slowing realizing that, trying and liking the Buell.

Check out www.badweatherbikers.com. There's a few motorcycle mag journalists and many ex-rice rocket owners there that have stepped over.
Yea, it's a pro-Buell site, but there lots of folks there that have owned MANY bikes over the years and are quite heppy with the new Buells.

Harley, well, they broke from tradition a little with the advent of the V-rod. That motor is too heavy though to put in anything other than a heavy frame cruiser. I was hoping the V-rod would start an entire new line of bikes for Harley, but that hope faded. I just don't like the V-rod. It's uncomfortable (for me), and doesn't do anything for me aesthetically.

I like the simplicity, virtual mainanence free ride of my Harley and Buell. Both have their place, and although down on power in comparison to the competition, I've never regretted purchasing either of them.

I can jump on my buddies drag bike (not the jet bike) anytime I feel the need to go faster than my angels can currently fly. But for the daily grind, twisties on the Buell, and drowning out the fart can racers stereos on the Harley, work pretty damn good.

170 hp, How fast would parts fall off at those speeds You are talking Harley??

I know I had to start something

 I know having an air cleaner and foot peg come off at 100mph just about sucks. I couldn't imagine it at 170. :loctitefixedit:

I see they take a long time to take to changes.. the Evolution engine goes back to AMF days, they started the research, and engineering knowing that Harley would need to advance their technology.. but I don't know when the Evolution engine was first put into production.

They introduced the Evo 1340 on the first Softails in 1984. The last Evo rolled off the line in 1999-2000. For those years, the new Twin-Cams were an option on most models. After that, it was all 88B ( 2nd generation Twin cam, after faulty balancer design was realized on the 88A in 1999 and 2000.

The V-Rod couldnt even beat 20 year old Yamaha technology that cost half as much in stock form. Nothing like a V-4.

Fischer was building an all-American sport bike this year, but he apparently couldn't get a workable/worthwhile American engine, so its going to have a Hyosung engine in it. I could have probably have swallowed any of the big 4 japanese makers (a Honda would have been awesome), but Hyosung is such an unknown that it completely blows that for me.

The only other "pure" American sporty bikes are Buells, VRods (ok, debatable) and some other really obscure companies like Gator. By pure I mean the company is HQ-ed here and builds them (mostly) here, not going to argue the US-built issue.
