Oh Boy, do you get a Pepperoni Roll with Boiled Cajun Peanuts while you are there?
And finish lunch off sitting in the town square, with a Banana Moon Pie and a Strawberry Yoo-Hoo.
If I'm going anywhere near the town center at lunchtime, I'm getting a hot dog and strawberry milk from Yann's. I do want to try Oliverio's either in Bridgeport or Morgantown.

LOL, I'll look up this Oliverio's the next time I head east.
I rank a good Pepperoni roll right up there with a back in the day, Pollack Johnny's Polish Sausage, all the way no onions.

I can't get into Yanns, I like T&L though, also always thought Murial's was better than Oliverios. Best selection of Italian food outside of NJ in that area.

When we had our home built in 2000 we upgraded the insulation and windows at the time the highest bill was 90$ 1 or 2 times in the summer & winter most of the time it was 73-88 a month but since then with the incrase of electric its went up a 100 dollars sometimes less
$90 is the equivalent of around $175 currently so it's not that far off. I wonder what new fees are slapped on our monthly bill that wasn't on there in 2000?

I have to throw in that SMO, I don't know about the other oil companies, is having major problems right now. I lost my heat, downstairs zone valve (I think) went wonky yesterday after the electricity kept going on and off (a result likely due to every heat pump getting turned on at once. Many of the new houses have three or four and even five of them and that surge blew the breakers on every transformer on the street out).

Anyway getting back to SMO, I'm now scheduled for a tech to come out Sunday. It was originally today, then tomorrow. There have also been reports of people running out of oil with no refill in sight. Apparently they're overwhelmed with "no heat" calls. Now, is that a staffing issue (rumors have been around that since they were taken over that tech slots have been cut to the bone) or just a perfect storm of one of the longest cold snaps in a number of years? I imagine it's a bit of both.

I was having a problem with my furnace stuttering/recycling and called SMO Wednesday to have them check it out. They scheduled me for today but called this morning to ask if they could reschedule due to other folks without heat. I told them I had heat but was worried about it crapping out during this cold snap but I was fine with them rescheduling(to Monday). Woman said they were woefully backed up with the majority of their calls being for no heat. She said they had a backlog this morning of 150 service calls and all their techs were well over 60 hrs this morning for the week. Not sure what the issue is as the unit got its annual service in November. Never had an issue with SMO, always have been very responsive over the years I have used them.

Just had Trossbach deliver 200 gallons yesterday for $780 and change. It took my system all night to bring the house from 58 degrees back up to 72 degrees after turning the system off between 7am and 3pm.

Our dealings with SMO for the last almost 37 years have been the same as yours. I was kind of miffed that they tried to put me off until next Wednesday. I may have heat upstairs in the over 100 year old house but that doesn't help me downstairs with the plumbing. Fortunately the fireplace puts out a lot of heat with the vents and a strategically placed space heater is also in place.

Mommy Dearest always had a contract with SMO that included yearly "tune-ups" and automatic delivery, but it too was expensive for me this year. Luckily, the system is only a few years old.

Although I'm not familiar with this particular furnace, unfortunately I've dealt with a few others in my lifetime. I'm sure I can handle those 2 things. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this season and will definitely service it before next winter. I know PM is very important, but do the nozzles wear out that quickly? I can't remember ever changing nozzles on my last furnace and it worked every season for 10 years. The underground tank had water seeping into it the last year I was there, so I kept a dozen or so filters on hand. Thanks for the input.

I wouldn't say worn out, but clogged (the screen). Boiling them can get them pretty darn clean and with the way Dawn breaks up oil it would probably be real good at the job. As long as you don't mess with the igniters (so their gap is maintained) it isn't like its rocket surgery or brain science.

Just sneakin' around....
I always thought the nozzle was just a pinhole under pressure. In talking with the tech who services mine, the nozzle actually has a tiny impeller inside that spins and helps atomize the fuel. This impeller can be easily clogged and cause poor performance.

Never heard about the impeller, but I have heard about the swirl slots and swirl chamber where the fuel gets atomized,. And never ever think of running anything into the orifice outlet, like a needle or pin.
