Locals on Today Show - Hometown Wedding

Actually they worked hard on it. The issue of what hometown meant was defined by the producers of the Today show. I deal with both the college and the tourism folks and they most certainly did all they could. I think that most people in this area probably voted for St. Mary's college, since it was the only site in St. Mary's County. The rest of the country went with their own feelings. I personally feel that all four locations should have been in the county. There is an editorial in today's Enterprise about it.

"I agree to disagree" with your defense above...

I will say that my own disappointment with St. Mary's County losing was overcome when I heard the Groom say with enthusiasm "The Bay Club - Our Favorite" after they removed their blindfolds last Friday morning.

After thinking about it, if I were in their shoes, I would want the most over-the-top ceremony and exclusive reception location that I could possibly have. I'd want my family and friends to share in an experience that they probably will never have again. This location does that, and it was their "favorite!" So, more power to them!

:yeahthat: I had heard that they said that location was their favorite so I'm glad they got want they wanted.

I don't disagree about whether or not it was their favorite. Maybe it was, or maybe they did not want to appear ungrateful. I was simply saying that local groups really lobbied hard for it being in St. Mary's county. I wish them the best!!

Is anyone still following this faux hometown wedding? I watched last week with the "catty" bridesmaids, wow, even Katie commented on how picky they were.

I've lost all intrest too. If it had been a real hometown wedding, maybe. Mark and Sarah both seem like really nice people, but after listening to those bridesmaids say if America picked the twisted grape dress she would walk down the asile naked, give me a break! The bridemaids sounded like nasty high school girls.

I kind of gave up when they showed Mark in the gym when they were picking the ring.

That was kind of lame, what does pumping iron have to do with picking the brides dress????

They're all very nice girls. I'm sure some of it was due to nerves. Who might not loose their cool on national TV? Although there were beautiful choices in each selection some were a bit odd and not at all typical. Who can blame the girls for not caring to wear the twisted dress, it wasn't very flattering! I'm sure it will all come together and be a lovely wedding.

I just think it was tacky to trash a designer on National TV. Like I said, even Katie Couric made a comment about how difficult the braidesmaids were. They came across as imature and not having much class.

He wa NOT in the gym when they picked the ring.

Get it straight. Mark was NOT in the gym when they picked the rings.

He WAS in the gym when they picked the wedding dress. You know, the groom is not supposed to see the dress and all that stuff? That is why the TODAY show didn't want him in New York for that show. And MARK didn't want to see the dress or hear about it, so all TV's were off in the Gym and they had him remove his earpiece and he has asked everyone to not speak to him about the dress.

Leave the bridesmaids alone. All they did was say what a lot of others thought about that dress. National TV or not, they are entitled to their oppinion, just like you are entitled to yours. They have the right to try and influence the vote and they did. Can't say as I blame them for wanting a nice looking dress vs. that other thing. Would it be better if they "sucked up" to Catie Couric and just "oooeeed and awweed" over that nasty looking thing?

Speaking of being Catty???????? :elaine:

Luvin Life !!!
I also have to say let the viewers make the choices. Is that not the concept of the show? So in essence it's takes away from the intent if we try to influence people one way or the other. I believe all in all they will be thrilled at the outcome no matter what dress, suit, etc. is chosen. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and maybe those bridesmaids should have considered that prior to their television debut.
