Looking for Daycare Referral

When he moves out of the infant room the price will go down. The righ ratio of provider to infant is what we are paying for. I'm comfortable with the place, it's immaculate, well run, and friendly. The fact I actually LIKE the women who cuddle and spend 11 hours a day with my son means a lot to me. I also love he is across the parking lot from Emergency Services just in case. I take early retirement next year and then he's all mine!!!!

My son was the only infant has his daycare. Also, in the state of MD. each provider can only take on 2 infants.
I'm not trying to :elaine:, but I'm just a fan of in-home family daycares. No "professional" daycare can come close to the bond that my son has formed with his provider and the other kids. :yay:

Id suggest a daycare but it is in the Lexington Park area.. Only reason I say that is because my mother owns two of them. She was the president of SMCCRC for quite a long time, and actually still teaches the workshops... If anyone is looking just shoot me a PM, and I will be happy to give you the information.

Home daycare was never an option. I take a VERY dim view of human nature, there is almost nothing some people won't do if there is no one watching. There are too many ways to neglect or hurt children and never get caught. In that big glassy bright place it's much harder to ignore or simply neglect a baby who is crying with a dirty diaper or gas. The eyes of the world are upon them and it behooves the owner to enforce a standard of care that adds to his bottom line. My sons daycare defininately dosen't include a provider staring at the soaps on TV all day and talking to her buddies on the phone. You NEVER really know what really goes on behind the closed doors of someones house.

That is not to say all home providers are bad, it's just a gamble I couldn't take. Agressive older children, sexually predatory teens, and lord-only-knows-who can live in or visit a providers house.

You are getting ripped off.
That's just rude. As I've told you before, some people care about the quality of their daycare provider; not the money, or how long they're open.

So, you should have to pay big money for quality care? :bs: My son gets quality care and I only pay $600 per month.

No, what Chasey is saying is that quality care supercedes price, and if you receive quality care, you don't mind paying more.

You must be getting screwed because my child gets quality care and I pay less than that. :ohwell:

To add to that bit above. I may just be overprotective but some of the things I read make my blood run cold. The Daycare provider who killed the 1 year old by OD'ing him on benedryl she used to drug all the children to sleep daily. The video footage of babies being struck and screamed at... I could go on and on. That kind of stuff haunts me.

It took years and BIG money (IVF) for me to sucessfully have a child. There is nothing I won't pay to keep him safe. I did a cost/risk analysis and for us limiting access to our son by keeping him in a clean modern daycare was a superior situation to being in an unsupervised house. We are not from this area and the crime and low-life factor around here makes me very uncomfortable. I never imagined I'd one day not feel safe in my own home unless I have the alarm system set.

Doesn't matter. You're getting royally screwed. :ohwell:
$150 per week for an infant is REALLY good. The average price around here for an infant is $175-$225 per week. Also, my son is there from 7:00-5:15ish.

The Goddard school is wonderful from what I've heard and good on you for being able to provide that type of environment for your son and your own peace of mind. :yay:
