Blues, you seem like a nice guy so I'll give you some advice:

Women do not like the direct approach.

Drop in, say hi, feel out the situation, chat a bit. THEN you will naturally find women with similar interests and can get friendly from there.

The only place the direct approach works is in a personal site, where everyone is there for only one reason, and this isn't a personals site. so relax, chat a bit, get to know some people. Just let it happen.
