Hello,

My husband and I were at PAX River TDY from Oct 2 to Dec. 23. We liked the area so well that he started talking it up with the folks there to get transferred to PAX River. As of yesterday paper work is forth coming and we should be full time residents after a month. Hubby is in CA right now, and I am in NJ visiting with youngest daughter and two grandchildren.

I lived in Philly area for 31 years before I moved to CA after I retired from DOD (Defense Personnel Support Center). Hubby now works for DOD, Dept. of the Navy. I lived in North Philly (5th and Erie), Spring Garden & 20th Sts., Kensington (Howard St.), Busleton <SP doesn't look right>, Blackwood, NJ, Warminster, PA, Line Lexington, PA, and Roslyn, PA.

While we were in PAX we went to the Japanese restaurant one night and we must have had the same "chef" that one of you mentioned as he tossed his spatula at my husband. It was a clear accident. The spatula did not hit him just landed in his plate and surprised us all.

I am going to the PAX area tomorrow to start searching for a house to buy. I am also going to be looking for a room to rent temporarily while I am looking for a house and hubby moves out here. I will have to fly back to CA to help him drive the truck across country with all our belongings.

Nice to meet all y'all and will talk atcha later. Gotta run for now.

May I suggest Leonardtown when you house shop, nice area...

My dad is from Carrolltown, near Johnstown! As soon as we'd pull up in my grandparents' driveway the neighbor kids would be at the fence. "When y'ins leaving? When y'ins coming back?" :lol: Always cracked us up that their first concern was how soon we'd be gone. :lol:

Thank you to all you nice folk for welcoming me and sending me info. I greatly appreciate and now you know one of the reasons we are wanting to move to S. Md.

Yes, Chief, Leonardtown is a nice area too. Miss Kelly, a co-worker of my husband's has a friend who lives there. She was working on a different program than my husband. I think Rick is the name of the guy who Kelly worked with that lives in Leonardtown.

The three of us staid in the Navy Lodge while we were in PAX. My husband can't wait to get back there and I can't wait to get us a house so we have a place to bring our belongings. They are in storage in Ventura County, CA right now.

I do have to get some rest tonight as I have a long day ahead of me tomorrow.

Since I'm from VA, the annexation of one yankee state by another seems a minor concern.
