I don't know what type of food Bear is on, but I go to The Greenery in Park Hall for the girls' food. They carry Science Diet and such products.. They aren't too far south from the base and can probably order what you need. Just a thought.

I don't mean to pry or butt around or whatever, but if you feed bears PLEASE be careful. It can be dangerous and turn to disaster quickly. Believe me! One time when we were camping, my uncle Stanley feeded this bear some fried potatoes and it went NUTS. That bear backflipped my uncle and nearly took his head off. That bear was hungry and wasn't afraid to prove it. Bears will eat anything when they are hungry including popcorn, garbage and stuff off of Chryslers. My uncle nearly hit a tree trying to get out of there and we left everything including our cooler, tent, and sleeping bags. We figure that bear probably ate all that stuff. Anyways, PLEASE be careful and only feed bears with a stick or pole or something long and not leashed to your wrists. Sorry for getting involved.

I know this is a SUPER SUPER old thread....but i was wondering if anything has changed with this store? I'm thinking about changing my dogs food and this store is the only play that carries it without having to drive far away.....?

I know these people very well. Mr. Brown is a very good friend of mine. I know the store isn't the cleanest in the world but he is really knowledgable about animals and he will help you out if you ever need it. He is always giving good animal advice. Mrs. Brown works her butt off grooming back there all by herself and she does a really good job. They are a mom and pop business. They have been around forever! I get all my animals food from there and have had nothing but good things come from it. My animals are healthy and happy and absolutely refuse to eat anything from a bag! I have to buy their bulk foods for my animals, they won't eat anything else! When they go out of business, which won't be long, I am going to be in a pickle! If you care about the small business owner you would give them a chance and try them out. The worst thing that could happen is you might get a healthy pet from it! Both of them are the sweetest people you'd ever want to meet. I am going to miss them when they finally retire. :howdy:

I bought from them when they were in Wildewood, then their shop behind McD's in Lex. Pk, and when they moved to where they are now. Each time they moved, their stores got a bit nastier. If they wanted to keep their customers then they should've cleaned up the place. I hated going into the Great Mills store because it was so stinky, dirty and messy, especially back where the dog & cat food is stored.

I care about small business owners but they weren't that warm and fuzzy and I'd been going to them for years.

Canine Cafe is clean and the owner/shopkeepers are much better all the way around.

 I bought a cockatiel from them when they were in the store near the movie place. The bird was healthy, but the guy was a total jerk. He acted like it was SUCH a bother for me to help me, and I spent $200 on a bird, cage, and supplies. He was also rude several other times. I have only been in the location where they are now 1 time. I have never been in such a nasty pet store. Everything was cramped, and the animals all looked terrible. I can't believe they are still in business. I would never buy anything from there again. I don't mean to be so harsh, but that place is absolutely gross.

That place is worse than disgusting. I went in there to buy mealworms for the bluebirds. I will never step foot in there again. I felt like I needed to shower when I left.

Help "Invisible Dogs"
I went to them when they were in Wildwood and I was looking for an African Grey baby parrot which they had. I had called a number of places for prices, his were well over $200 more. But I thought what the heck he says they are hand fed, they are local...

His "hand fed" babies, everyone was unsocialized and I left the store with bite marks every where on my hands. He would take them out and feed them, then shut them back in their cage. That was his "socializing".

I still went back to give it one more shot on buying a bird and told him what I could get one for in NoVa. He told me there was no where I'd find one that cheap and if I did go ahead and get it. I went to NoVa and got the bird, all the essential start up for a big parrot AND the big cage for what he wanted to sell the bird for.

I would go in and buy supplies, again to support a local business, but he was never polite and I would get pissed every time because of how he treated the birds.

I went a few times when he was by the McDonald's. Only one time were he and the wife even halfway friendly (had to pick my jaw up off the floor). But it just became too disgusting and so unfriendly I saw no reason to help that man stay in business.

I'm all for mom and pop business, but they need to realize without customers you DON'T have a business.
