LOST A BOXER that recently had surgery??

Did you lose a boxer in the past 2 days? Someone I know found one that had stitches from surgery and turned it into a veterinary business in Waldorf who said the dog had to be signed over to THEM for them to scan it for a micro-chip then told the person the dog didn't have a micro-chip. They kept the dog - hmmm. I'm concerned that someone may never see their beloved Boxer again? Since when does a veterinary office REQUIRE you SIGN the animal over to them for them to see if the animal has a micro-chip?

I am hoping that we can somehow match the owner up with their missing dog providing the vet office hasn't already sold/given the dog away? Or maybe they turned the dog over to the Humane Society or Tri-County?

That sounds like BS.

did they say where they found the dog? or where the stitches were?? What color was the boxer. Male or female??? ooohhhh no (I know my friend owns two boxers and one just had surgery a few days ago :jameo: but she never lets them run free..... and they live in Chuck-u)

Ok I have MORE information:

MALE - had staples in groin area (Neuter surgery?) and was Red with a black mask - dog was found in New Carrollton. The person who found the dog said the girl at the vet office was on the phone immediately as they were leaving the dog there and they ASSUME it was to call someone they knew who wanted a boxer? But hey they could have been calling the shelter to see if a boxer was reported missing? I am sure she regrets leaving the dog there like that now. She's willing to help get the dog to the owner if the dog was given away or sold to someone.

This may have already been done but did your friend contact PG County Animal Control and PG Co. Animal Shelter to report the dog found and give them the info for the vet they took him too? Someone who lost a dog in the New Carrollton area may not think to look in Chuck Co.

She didn't, but I just got off tghe phone with the P G Shelter to report the dog FOUND - I just hope the owner can be located quickly so this dog can be reunited with the rightful owner - somehow the lady who found him fears that girl at the vet clinic may have been up to no good and placed the dog herself. I tend to think most people are good hearted so I want to think positively that she was calling Tri-County or the Humane Society?

The lady who found the dog said she's willing to meet the owner at the vet clinic to attempt to get the dog back if the dog was sold/given away. Without an owner to claim the dog there is nothing that can be done at this point? Maybe I can call the vet office to ask what they did with the dog? Okay I will.

Probably a neuter..generally a slice along the side of penis area..please refer to him as a fawn w/blk mask because most people don't recognize a "red" boxer. :yay:

Did I miss the outcome of the scan? No chip?

Vet office told them there was no micro-chip.

I'm on the phone with the vet office now to try to find out where the dog is.

I would call them to let them know that the dog has been reported found to PG County Animal Control/Shelter. I try to see the best in people but the truth is that there are dishonest people out there. I found a boxer in Mechanicsville that had been picked up from Waldorf and instead of the person doing the right thing they decided to keep the dog. The dog got loose from that person and I found him. I was able to track down the owner and return him. Even though I notified all local (St. Marys) animal organizations, no one was able to put two and two together because he came from Chuck Co. When I went online and searched lost and found listings in Waldorf, I was able to locate his owner.

The vet clinic says THEY found the dogs owner - that the dog had the surgery THERE and they recognized the dog - I told her we did not feel inclined to believe that and we would do everything in our power to be sure the dog was in the hands of the rightful owner. Who loses a dog in New Carrollton that had the dog at vet "emergency" office in Waldorf for a neuter surgery?? (ok so maybe they do routine care too I guess)?. That's pretty far from New Carrollton to Waldorf but possible ....... Then she says that they routinely accept stray dogs from people. Hmm. Why is that - they are not a shelter? That sounds odd too?

It just really sounds VERY fishy to me and that place is also the same place that ripped me off for $500 for a cat that was Feline Leukemia + but that was the LAST test they did - so I ended up a dead cat and $500 bill to pay - I'd never walk through their doors ever again after that.

I assured the gal I talked to that we would go to great lengths to be SURE that dog ended up in the right hands (she didn't appreciate my mis-trusting tone she said). She assured me they already had been in contact with the owner - I'm sorry but I'm still skeptical.

UPDATE: After telling ME the dog had been reunited with it's owner already (which I FELT was untrue), I am being told by the lady who turned him in to them that they have agreed to take the dog to the Humane Society. I really HOPE they do.

There was another story that they contacted his owner and the owner released the dog to them saying they couldn't take care of ithe dog anymore. Who gets their dog neutered then suddenly decides they don't want the dog anymore? Come on. This is sounding more strange as this progesses.

I am expecting a call back from the P G Animal Control office about the FOUND report I made on behalf of this dog. I think they realize now from getting several phone calls that this dog is on the mind of more than a few people so I really hope they do the right thing and turn him over.

The goal at this point is STILL to find the dogs rightful owner.

He could have been a recently adopted dog and the new owner wasn't prepared for what they got.

After the shelter/rescue has an animal nutered....do they release it right away or get the stiches out before giving to adoptive owners?

That's true and we may never know if no one ever claims him. I'm sure one of Boxer rescues will pull him from the shelter if he isn't claimed.

My male dogs never had stitches that required removal and most of the cats that I'm involved now in rescue are glued..at least the outer layer is.

We adopted a dog that had his stitches from his neuter still, but I also said that I had no problem taking them out myself.
