Love the Victory Cross Country....

I checked one out last weekend and all I can say is wow. What a great looking bike and as I narrow down my choices for a bagger I have to say that looks, specs and features put it at the top of the list so far. I did not ride it, but I did sit on it for quite awhile and I was very comfortable. next Victory demo day I'll take one for a spin. Do we have any Vic owners here? I would specifically like to hear from a Cross Country owner who has racked up several thousand miles, but any Vic info would be welcome.

Not an owner nor even test drove it. From what I've read, it's a great bike and a good choice in that V twin, air cooled class.

The looks just ain't for everybody. :buddies:

Zactly. Nice bike, but I just don't care for the way it looks.

Yeah, I'm a Victory owner, but mine is a Crossroads, not a CC. Same bike, save my windshield vs. the CC's faring and my bags are not hard bags.
I've had mine for just over a year and am just shy of 10K miles with a 1-day, 1-K ride under my belt. Love the bike.
Some Victory owners complain about the "clunky" tranny, but to me that clunk is a very positive shift and does not bother me at all. The 106 V-twin is solid as a rock and has plenty of juice for just about anyone.

I don't think you'd need to wait for a demo-day unless they don't have any CC's in stock...which would surprise me. I walked in and test drove a CR off the floor and ordered mine as soon as I got back from the test ride.

I have an 04 Victory Vegas, 92cu in, have 12-13k miles on it. As a bike, I have no complaints, it's very easy to service, very trustworthy, and the throttle response is excellent. I have a windshield for it, but no bags.

I think mine shifts very smooth as well, if you like the looks, and like the sound, I do not believe you will be upset with a Victory honestly, I haven't met a person yet that wasn't happy with theirs.

Also, Bernie and them up at Victory of Southern Md are great people, I've been up there a few times, odds and ends, questions, they are always willing to help me out. And I bought my bike used off of somd.com classifieds actually  but they don't care, they just want to help where they can.

The ONLY thing I would change about mine, is the sound... I'm sorry, I'm just a sucker for a GOOD sounding Harley with pipes... not the super loud obnoxious Harley, but that nice clean throaty sound. *Disclaimer* - I haven't ridden with anyone that had a 106cc with pipes yet, so I do not know what those sound like without the stock pipes.

You'd like the sound of mine. I had Bernie do his version of the Victory stage one pipes. Louder than the purr of stock, nice rumble, but not obnoxious. When I roll on the throttle, you know it, but does not knock you out of the park.

Bernie in White Plains wouldn't let you take a test ride?

You're thinking of the Vision. The CC looks like a normal bike.

I'm sure he would have if I would have asked. I'll wait for a demo day so I can test ride multiple Vics. "Normal Bike" I like that! I love the look of all the Vics and it's nice to see a diifferent looking bike on the ride. As an HD guy even I have to admit that I'm tired of seeing dozens of the same bike I own on the road. I've seen a good looking cross roads on base a few times and man that is one sharp looking bike!

You are one of the MSF intsructors on base correct? Is there a new course for cruisers that is diffferent than the BRC that's required every three years? I'm coming up on 3 years soon but would really not want to have to go through the same course again. I always practice my low speed maneuvers to stay sharp and would like do something different which will still allow me to stay current so I can ride my bike on base.

What did said "good looking crossroads" look like? Colors? Hard bags or soft?

We have the BRC2 which is slightly more advanced than the BRC, has a couple of different exercises and the same test. I'm doing one on Monday at Dahlgren.

If you've been riding a while I'd recommend the ARC (Advanced Riding Course) which covers trail braking, reducing radius corners, swerves in both corners and straights.
.... and no test :yay:

The ARC is essentially the sport bike class with different pictures and lower speeds.

It was black and had flags on the back. Hard bags! I tried to catch up to the rider so I could ask him how he liked the bike but he was to far ahead and the traffic got in the way.

It sounds like the ARC would be a lot of fun. I've been riding for going on 26 years.

Not mine, but I do know who you are talking about. Very good rider.

Here is mine.
