I was out handing out the flyers for the CRE Holiday Benefit Car Show and Yard Sale [to take place on Sunday] to all the shops in the Little Shops and the Shops at Food Lion.... everyone was happy to get them...

EXCEPT for the Hair Cuttery....They told me that I could just "take that back" because they don't do that... I told them I was going to let people know.... They told me to "go right ahead" so I am....

I agree that they should be able to not put the flyer up.... I'm even cool with that....

She was snotty.... that was what I have a problem with....

I would say 90% of her business is from our neighborhood... and she was just plain snotty about it.... guess I was too since I'm posting on SOMD Online...

Maybe I should go apologize for asking her to support the benefit...

I figured she might just lay one flyer in with the magazines or something like they did at the nail shop down the way....

Food Lion can't put them up either but they kept a copy to put in the break room.... very nice people.... by the way...

They aren't allowed to go door-to-door promoting their business in CRE. If they have the same policy, more power to them.

Flyers in store windows look tacky. Most people ignore them, so it's a waste.

Speaking of that some guy was riding around a couple weeks ago trying to sell homework books for the kids. I can't stand for people to come knocking on the door selling crap.

Did you call security? There was somebody selling meat from a pickup a couple of weeks ago. I called security, and they actually responded pretty quickly. If we are paying their salary, it's good to see that they are actually awake and doing something.

No I didn't. But I will next time. Heck I don't even know the number to security. I did see the meat truck in my neighborhood to. They didn't hit my house but got the neighbors up the street.

Most of the shops won't put it in the window.... but they will lay it on the counter at the register or put it out in the sitting area if there is one [like for the nail salon or the tanning salong] then if someone sees it, then it's good.

It's worth 4cents if one person sees it and comes to the carshow ....

I don't expect these flyers to go in all the windows... you're right... that might be tacky....

Oh and the signs... the GM made them and laminated them to put them on the stop sign posts.... We're still working on that process....



Oh and I ran a salesman going door to door off too... I told him he had 3 minutes to get in his car and get out of CRE because I had his tag # and I was going to call security.... He hauled arse.... it was a real hoot....

Man, he must really get around. We had a guy selling that stuff up here in northern Calvert the other day, too. Tried dropping all kinds of teacher's names... like that was going to get me to pay the $250 for the books my kids would never open.

I didn't listen long enough to get a price... he drove a beat up car and was probably college age. I usually buy those books the school sells for summer but I didn't do it this year. It's been a long year and honestly I am thankful it's summer and homework is OVER. I will have the kiddos read but that's the extent of work they will do this summer.

I believe that solicitation is unwanted and illegal in all of the area shopping centers. Your lucky the local cops didn't catch you. The Hair Cuttery does not have a cork board for local events - therefore they don't want your flyer. It does not matter who they get thier business from - it's none of your business if they don't want your flyer. Get a grip!

Only vegan to the extent that dairy does not always agree with me, but otherwise just no meat.

That tall skinny thing that calls me mom has always been veggie. She gets the skinny part from the other side of her gene pool though, not being veg (she eats like a teenage boy).

My sister up until recently was a veg and I swear my youngest wants to be like her aunt. She has NEVER been a big meat eater. We could put a tiny piece of meat mixed up in something else and put it in her mouth and she would find that little piece and spit it out.
