Making a birthday cake...

Alright...I just want to apologize and say I'm the most indecisive person ever. I haven't made up my mind about sheet vs. dress cake yet. I probably won't decide until Thursday or Friday.

My coworker has the Pampered Chef batter bowl, so she's going to bring it in. Mabye I'll combine it and make a sheet cake and set the dress cake on top! :yay:

You can buy a cake pan that is specifically for doll cakes. Go to Michaels or go to the cake supply store in Waldorf-it is in a shopping center near Burlington. Instead of having to buy a whole doll (unless you want to) or cutting a doll (how morbid) you can buy the dolls that are meant for this kind of cake. The top half is a doll and the bottom half is like a stick.

My mom made several of these for us growing up. You can put the candles at the bottom of the "dress" and nothing will get burned except the burning candles. Good luck at whatever kind of cake you choose!

You may need to do that just to be able to fit the doll in so that her waist sits where it is supposed to. The dollcake dolls are shorter than typical Barbies or novelty figures. I'm thinking Snow White's feet will go all the way down to the base cake in order for you to fit her in the bowl cake. You aren't giving yourself a lot of time for error so I'd plan on doing both if I were you.

Are you pissed of at bob or did you lose a bet?
No, Pete said that if I used this av for a week, he'd make/buy me a cake.

Hopefully it won't be one of those crappy grocery store-bought cakes, but one of the good ones from the Wildewood Bakery.

I'll do almost anything for cake. :lmao:

I think I have enough cake flour for a red velvet. If I make that you only get half.

No, I didn't. :bawl:

Pound cake always reminds me of my momma (she always made fabulous pound cake), and for some reason I'm not ready to eat it right now. Sounds strange, I know......

If you're going to be stingy like that, just make me two halves, then.

I've had that cake made for a shower before!

We used an ice cream glass to hold up top layer
and had fondant stars hanging all around and on cake.
We put a real "precious moments" sleeping bady on the top as a keepsake!

DuPaul's in Prince Frederick made the cake and parts for us and we put it together.
